K. Michelle isn’t worried about a lil’ competition in the country music lane, even if it’s from Beyoncé. The singer made that clear on Sunday night (Feb. 11). She clapped back at people who were implying she should be shook by Bey’s country debut.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), K. responded to user @Ferrell46251409 who wrote, “Has anyone checked on @kmichelle Bey will bring pressure to country music.” Michelle got straight to the point in her response.

“Why would anyone need to check on me? I’m one of the greatest African American country singers of all times with no album even out. Y’all been mentioning me ALL night. I’m just happy to be spoke about in my genre.”

K. Michelle added that she had all love and support for Beyoncé’s new project. She wrote, “I love Bey and will be supporting her like I always do,” adding two red heart emojis.

As previously reported, Bey released two country singles on Sunday after teasing new music in a Verizon Super Bowl commercial. She also released visualizers, showing the space cowgirl aesthetic is here to stay through the March release of ‘Act II.’ ‘Texas Hold’ Em’ and ’16 Carriages’ have been trending on socials since its release.

Nearly four months ago, K. Michelle gave an iconic performance alongside Jelly Roll at the Country Music Awards. They got a standing ovation for their rendition of The Judds’ ‘Love Can Build A Bridge.’

Michelle, whose new stage name is Puddin, made her official country music debut by releasing the track ‘Scooch’ in Feb. 2022. Her country album is in the works and expected to be released this year.
