In a recent appearance on Drink Champs, G Herbo takes about the controversial interview with Funny Marco, revealing that the entire incident was actually staged. The rapper explained that he and Southside were instructed by their producers to “troll” the comedian during the interview.
As we previously reported, during the Drink Champs episode, G Herbo and Southside engaged in trolling Funny Marco throughout the interview. The intention was to catch Marco off guard and create a memorable moment for the viewers. However, the tension escalated, leading to speculation that the incident was not staged. Marco even claimed that Southside broke his $30,000 watch, although that part did not make it into the final interview. Of course, the episode went viral, leaving many to believe that the tension between them was real. However, Herbo clarified that it was all part of a plan to surprise Marco and create an intimidating atmosphere.
While speaking with the hosts of Drink Champs, G Herbo went on to explain that he and Southside had a prior relationship with Marco and there was no bad blood between them. He mentioned that they went a bit overboard during the trolling, but it was all in good fun. “Marco, first and foremost, that’s my man,” he explaining at the top of the episode. “We already had a relationship prior to doing the interview and shit. So originally, [Southside] was supposed to do the interview, like, the episode. And the head of his production staff told us to, like, troll him. Like, it was supposed to be a surprise to come on there to troll him.”
He continued, “We was a little off the sauce. But the whole thing was to come on there and, like, intimidate him on his own show. Like, pull a him on him. I spoke to him before it even came out, and… I was saying we was good. I ain’t know if it was, like, a confusion between our staff and his production team, where they was thinking we didn’t want it to come out. We was like, ‘No, it’s cool, we ain’t really tripping.’”

Speaking on rumors that Herbo and Southside wanted the interview taken down following backlash, the Chicago rapper said, “We ain’t never do that,” he shared. “I ain’t never tell ’em, ‘Nah bro, you got us looking crazy’ or some shit like that. It was still all love, you know what I’m saying?”
To G Herbo’s surprise, the interview gained significant attention online and went viral. He reached out to Marco to reassure him that there were no hard feelings and that he had his back. Despite the negative perception that emerged from the incident, Herbo stressed that it was all done in the spirit of entertainment and there was no intention to bully or harm Marco. He admitted that he underestimated how the internet would perceive the situation and acknowledged his lack of expertise in navigating the online world.
“I had hit him and told him, like, ‘No it’s good, you know what I’m saying?’ Like, the shit with the watch and all that shit, we like, ‘Bro I got you,’” he said. “We was doing all type of shit, we was wylin’. … It’s all love bro, like, I know how it came out to the internet it looked like n***as was on some bullying sh*t. … That’s when I really took it serious, but I ain’t want to put nothing on the internet… I don’t really know how to really play the internet game.”
Welp, we’re glad that’s all sorted out.
