The coming-of-age sports anime film will arrive in Japanese theaters on February 16. At the moment, there have been no announcements regarding international release dates.

Check out the Haikyu movie trailer below (watch more trailers):

What is Haikyu!!?

“Haikyu!! is a slice-of-life sports anime revolving around Shoyo Hinata’s love of volleyball. Inspired by a small-statured pro volleyball player, Hinata creates a volleyball team in his last year of middle school,” reads the synopsis (via Crunchyroll). “Unfortunately the team is matched up against the “King of the Court” Tobio Kageyama’s team in their first tournament and inevitably lose. After the crushing defeat, Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama After entering high school, Hinata joins the volleyball team only to find that Tobio has also joined.”

Haikyu!! is based on Haruichi Furudate’s original Weekly Shonen Jump manga series of the same name. The anime features the voices of Ayumu Marase as Hinata, Kaito Ishikawa as Kageyama, Satoshi Hino as Daichi, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Nishinoya, Yu Hayashi as Tanaka, Koki Uchiyama as Tsukushima, Miyu Irino as Sugawara, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Asahi, Soma Saito as Yamaguchi, Kaori Nazuka as Kiyoko Shimizo and more.

Following the debut of Haikyu the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, Toho Animation is expected to release another movie. It’s currently unclear if animation studio Production I.G. is planning to continue the anime series with its fifth season, after the release of the final two movies; the films could potentially wrap up the anime’s story.
