Alicia Keys is sharing how she and her longtime hubby, Swizz Beatz, have managed to keep their marriage intact.
The singer, who married the New York native in July 2010, made headlines on Sunday (February 11) when she joined Usher for his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance in Las Vegas.

Some viewers felt their on-stage chemistry had somewhat crossed the line when they embraced one another in what some considered quite an intimate moment.
Swizz was quick to put an end to the social media chatter, saying, “We don’t do negative vibes,” as he congratulated the pair on their duet together.

In a new interview with PEOPLE, Ms. Keys laid down the foundation of how the couple is still in tune with one another 13 years into their marriage.
The ‘Fire We Make’ songstress explained that a big part of attaining a healthy and strong relationship is through effective communication.
And Alicia seems to have learned this based on her past boyfriends.
“I spent a lot of relationships not really saying how I actually felt, and they fell apart,” Alicia said, reflecting on her love life before meeting Swizz. “If you can’t speak your truth, then you can’t be yourself. That’s a key! I don’t worry about speaking to him, even about the hard things, and I think he feels the same. I know that I can tell him what I really feel.”

Alicia raised a lot of eyebrows when she and Usher did their thing, performing ‘My Boo’ at the halftime show over the weekend.
But when you’re comfortable in your relationship, you stand by your partner no matter what.
Some commented that because Alicia is a married woman, she shouldn’t have allowed Usher to get all touchy-feely with her.
In response to the controversy that erupted from their performance, Swizz took to Instagram and silenced those who assumed he would take issue with what had transpired on stage as if the performance hadn’t been rehearsed beforehand.
“Y’all talking about the wrong d**n thing !!!” He wrote in an IG post on Monday (February 12).
“y’all don’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants! Congrats @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic. We don’t do negative vibes on this side we make history.”
Meanwhile, on Valentine’s Day, the award-winning singer reciprocated that same love as she penned a sweet message to her man by paying tribute to him in a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday (February 14).
“I love you sooo deeply,” Alicia captioned the post, showing her sitting on Swizz’s lap on a private jet. “Beyond words, beyond lifetimes, beyond skies and universe. We soar!!”
