A new teaser commercial has been released for an Apartments.com ad that will appear in the upcoming Superbowl game this Sunday. It features Jeff Goldblum as the advertising character Brad Bellflower, which he has played for Apartments.com for about a decade. In the teaser-like ad, which is similar to a big Hollywood blockbuster movie trailer, Goldblum emerges as a crowd of soldiers and scientists gaze at some entity that emits a bright light. “I may have misread the situation,” he says as ominous music plays.

Viewers quickly see graphics that identify a social-media hashtag, #TheyAreHereToStay, which is said to be “Coming in February.” Those who scan some fine print that pops on the bottom of the screen in the spot’s closing seconds might notice that the spot is “A Bellflower Pictures Production in Association With Apartments.com.”

Executives from both Apartments.com and RPA aren’t talking specifically about where the teasers may lead, but acknowledge they see it as “a creative way to stir up some chatter,” says Fred Saint, president of CoStar Marketplaces, parent company of Apartments.com. The ad “has a big movie feel to it,” he adds. “It has a big-stage feel to it. It has a lot of drama to it.”

It’s a fun concept, and I’m sure we will get to see more of it this Sunday, February 11th, during Super Bowl LVIII. Check out the teaser below:
