It was so cool to see Godzilla Minus One get nominated for an Oscar yesterday. There’s a lot of work that end into that film and it ended up walking away with a nomination for Best Visual Effects. The movie was made on a $10 million budget and it had a team of 35 people working on the visual effects that were led by director Takashi Yamazaki.
When the Awards were announced the creative team behind the film got together to watch the nominations, and you can watch their excited and emotional reaction to being nominated below. It’s pretty awesome to see how thrilled they are!
This is the first time ever that a Godzilla movie has been nominated for an Oscar. I mean, we know it was never going to get any of the big nominations, but at least it landed this one. I don’t know if it’s going to win because it’s up against some pretty polished-looking films, but I sure would love to see Godzilla Minus One take home the award!
