Kyle Richards on Mauricio Discussing Split on ‘Buying Beverly Hills’

Kyle Richards reacted to Mauricio Umansky opening up about their split on his Netflix reality show, Buying Beverly Hills, on Wednesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, while also commenting on the July 2023 leak of their separation story.

Following the season 13 finale of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kyle, 55, spoke to host Andy Cohen, 55, about her breakup, her strained friendship with Dorit Kemsley, 47, and where she stands with Lisa Rinna, 60, while also addressing claims of fueling the Morgan Wade romance rumors by starring in her racy music video and sharing her thoughts on Kathy Hilton, 64, and Kim Richards, 59, returning to the show.

“I was a little bit taken aback,” Kyle admitted of the Buying Beverly Hills season two trailer on the February 21 episode of WWHL. “He said something like I encouraged him to go and date… It wasn’t encouraged. It was, I’d rather say that if we’re going to be separated, say that, that way I don’t have to be hurt. That’s easier to say than be blindsided.”

Although who planted their separation story was a hot topic on the finale, Kyle admitted she has no idea who did so.

“I don’t know. I think that I really don’t know. I really don’t know. Mo had some ideas and he was really upset about it. I was too. I have no idea. Someone hears something, they tell a friend who tells a friend,” she reasoned.

When Andy then asked if she hadn’t spoken to Dorit since December, Kyle clarified that she chatted with her at the January reunion taping.

“I was surprised by things she had said. We have some things to work out,” she noted.

Andy also asked about what was on Dorit’s phone in the Sprinter van, which caused them both to react with shock.

“I want to know also. I can’t remember,” Kyle admitted. “We do that all the time by the way. That was just the first time we got caught on camera doing it.”

Continuing on about Dorit, Kyle revealed if she believes her marriage to Paul “PK” Kemsley, 56, will survive.

“I know that they’re in a good place now and they’re working on it so I’d like to think so, I think in some of these scenes, it does make you wonder,” she confessed.

As for her own love life, Kyle reacted to the suggestion that she was fueling rumors of a romance with Morgan, 29, when she starred as Morgan’s love interest in her “Fall in Love With Me” music video.

“When we made that music video, those stories weren’t happening. It was little tiny things that we were like, ’That is funny.’ It was done way before that,” she clarified.

Following Rinna’s exit from RHOBH last year, which came after she accused Kathy of going on a rant against Kyle and her family, Kyle said the two of them are back in touch.

“We text each other now and then. Things have gotten better. She sent Kathy flowers and we made a plan to get together soon with Erika. So things are good,” she confirmed. “I love seeing her modeling now. She’s like a real model.”

Looking back at her white party, Kyle explained why she used Kevin Lee, rather than her former party planner, Glenn Schneider.

“He was really busy and thought, ‘Well, okay, if he’s busy, then I’m just going to go over the top.’ And if you’re going to have a party at SoFi stadium, who else would be over the top? That’s the first person that comes to your mind,” she said of Kevin, who has also been used by Lisa Vanderpump, 63.

Ahead of Kathy’s surprise appearance at the reunion, Kyle was asked if her sisters would ever return to the show.

“I can see Kathy and Kim both joining the show for sure,” she shared. “I know the fans want that a lot so we shall see.”

According to Kyle, who had a very emotional discussion with Mauricio on the finale, she was unable to tune in.

“I couldn’t get myself to watch. I saw it in the dressing room. It’s hard to watch,” she confessed. “I was like, ‘I don’t need to see it because I already lived it.’ And just to relive it is difficult so I pulled it together.”

As for Denise Richards, 52, suggesting Erika Jayne, 52, had lip-synched at her party, Kyle said, “She was very shady. I didn’t really understand that.”

Also on the live broadcast of WWHL, Kyle played a game in which she was asked to choose between Dorit and Sutton Stracke, 52. And when questioned about who she trusts the least and who gives the best gifts, Kyle confirmed her answer as “both.”

As for who gave the more hurtful confessionals, that went to Sutton.

Kyle then said that “neither” was a good listener.

Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Kyle was asked why she made a dig at Sutton’s relationship with Merce Cunningham.

“Because she wasn’t nice to me all season and I felt like I was just making a joke, like, I’ve never heard of this person before,” she replied. “Sometimes that happens on the show when someone starts talking about something and I’m like, ‘I’ve never heard about this before.’ And she wasn’t nice to me all season so I really didn’t feel a lot of love toward her at that moment to be honest. She put me through a really hard time last season.”
