A New York parent has been arrested, accused of sneaking past security as a middle schooler and assaulting a middle school teacher in front of their 25-30 students. It’s also alleged that the parent broke their child’s teacher’s nose.

The parent has been identified as 31-year-old Lynzina Sutton. According to the school’s superintendent, Sutton was able to allegedly bypass security and attack a teacher at Syracuse’s Lincoln Middle School because she appeared to be a student, blending in with the children as they arrived for the school day.
Security assumed she was just a child because she had her hood up and was short. She is reportedly 4-foot-10-inches tall. It’s also reported that Sutton was with the student’s grandmother, Roxanne Thompkins (pictured above), but she was stopped by security, who also called for Sutton, but she didn’t stop, making her way to the teacher uninterrupted.

On Tuesday (February 20), Syracuse Police Chief Joe Cecile attended a news conference, along with the DA, and reported that on Friday morning (February 16), the parent arrived at the school, slipped past security, specifically located and assaulted the female teacher she was looking for.
Upon locating said teacher, Sutton allegedly punched her in the face multiple times, fracturing the staffer’s nasal bone and maxillary spine bones, according to District Attorney William Fitzpatrick. It’s also reported that the teacher received a concussion. She was hospitalized for treatment and has since been released.

Amanda Hull, a spokesperson for the school district claimed that when Sutton snuck past security and made her way to the teacher’s room, a guard radioed for help and the principal came rushing over trying to intervene, but to no avail. At this point, the student’s grandmother, Roxanne Thompkins, was also in the area.
As the incident was happening, the school went into a “hold in place drill.” Officials claimed that Sutton managed to run off after the alleged assault and was arrested in the afternoon. According to the student’s grandmother, she had been bullied/involved in altercations on several occasions, and leading up to the incident, the student was set to be disciplined by the school. But before any punishment could happen, the mother stepped in the next morning.
The New York parent was eventually charged for assaulting the teacher. Sutton was hit with second-degree assault (injury to school official) and third-degree burglary, despite her mother denying that they broke into the school. Thompkins claimed the school doors were left propped open.
