Hunter Schafer was arrested while protesting the Israel-Hamas war with Jewish Voice for Peace in New York City on February 26.
According to sources close to the situation, the “Euphoria” star allegedly partook in the Monday afternoon protest to disrupt President Joe Biden’s appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”
Hunter Schafer Arrested At Pro-Palestinian Protest
What started as a protest for an end to the conflict in Gaza quickly turned left when Schafer was escorted away by a New York Police Department [NYPD] officer with her hands cuffed behind her back.
The actress, who is depicted wearing a shirt demanding an immediate cease-fire in images from the event, was among 50 protesters from Jewish Voice For Peace who were arrested and given two summonses for trespassing and disorderly conduct. Luckily, the charges are less serious violations of the law per TMZ.
Schafer’s arrest was addressed in a statement by a JVP representative, who detailed:
“Hunter was arrested at the protest, along with 50 other people. We commend her commitment to Palestinian freedom and to a future of justice for everyone.”

Meanwhile, pictures and videos shared on JVP’s social media showed members of the anti-Zionist group sitting in the lobby of Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan. They were waving banners that criticized Biden’s foreign policy in Gaza with slogans like “Jews to Biden: Stop arming genocide” and “Lasting cease-fire.”
“The President needs to start listening to the American people – not the far-Right Israeli government indiscriminately bombing the people of Gaza, destroying 70% of infrastructure, including hospitals, universities and the electricity and water grids,” the Jewish group partially wrote in the accompanying caption.
The group’s efforts prompted a resounding boost from onlookers, with one person noting, “I cannot put into words how much I appreciate every single soul that is on the right side of justice. THANK YOU,” and another writing, “Thank you for standing for peace and justice,” in the comments.
Schafer’s Year-Long Romance With This Co-Star Amassed An Avalanche Of Support
Before she was escorted from Rockefeller Center in cuffs, Schafer made headlines for her supposed romance with “Euphoria” co-star Dominic Fike.
The actor became a part of the HBO series in its second season as Elliot, a new love interest for Zandaya’s Ruby “Rue” Bennett, after she has a setback and breaks up with Jules Vaugh, played by Schafer.
Not long after season 2 premiered, the actress and Fike, known initially as a musician, were seen holding hands and leaving the Nice Guy restaurant in West Hollywood.
For the date, Schafer wore an all-black outfit, including a weather jacket, mini shorts with tights, and a sweatshirt. She accessorized with a pair of grey mid-calf boots.
As The Blast reported, Fike matched her black ensemble with a black T-shirt, matching pants, and boots. He also added a brown jacket and finished with a single necklace as an accessory.
Once photos of the pair surfaced on social media, fans were excited and promptly began asking questions about their relationship in the comment section.
While one fan expressed, “HUNTER SCHAFER AND DOMINIC FIKE ARE DATING? I JUST FELL TO MY KNEES,” another commented, “Hunter and Dominic are dating? COUNT ME IN,” and a third declared, “I’m so here for this!”
A gossip site added more fuel to the debate when they claimed that Schafer was seen backstage at one of Fike’s gigs, and they engaged in some “kissing and dancing.”
The couple appeared to confirm their relationship when Fike posted a photo of them kissing during dinner at a restaurant in February 2022. He captioned it, “Happy birthday happy birthday,” even though they both have birthdays in December.
Unfortunately, despite the support they received, the model and the singer-songwriter have since broken up, with the latter disclosing during a July 2023 interview that he prefers being in a relationship and feels “uncomfortable being alone.”
Upon reaching that conclusion, Fike realized, “That’s a bad thing. So I decided to just be alone for a while.”
