Kanye West has had it with people calling him by the wrong name, again reminding fans that he has legally changed his name to Ye.

On Wednesday (February 28), the controversial rapper took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a DM exchange with internet personality Justin Laboy, revealing his intentions to change his Instagram handle.

In the screenshot he wrote: “I’m closing my Kanye West Instagram account. My name is Ye. No brand or numbers gonna force me to call myself what they want me to still be.”

Yeezy captioned the post: “Name being changed to Ye on insta shortly.”

The post originally had a longer caption, but was later shortened. It initially read: “Somebody has Ye as an account I would like to have my name so I can change my account to my legal name Nobody finna bully nothing Not no promoters Not no DSPs I don’t care My name is Ye now You call me Kanye West then you calling me out of my name.”

In a second post, he shared a screenshot of a text message exchange between himself, Laboy and a third unknown contact.

Laboy wrote: “Instagram has approved[…]They just got into the office and called immediately.”

In a second text he added: “Waiting on info they need to make it happen today.”

The Vultures 1 co-star originally changed his name back in 2021. “I believe Ye is the most commonly used word in the Bible,” he said when undergoing the change. “And in the Bible, it means, ‘You.’ I’m all of you.” In the legal filing, Kanye cited “personal reasons” for making the switch.

In other news from Ye, the rapping producer made headlines earlier this week when he was heading to a hotel in Paris where fans waited outside to greet him.

A young woman was seen politely asking the Chicago rap icon to sign a piece of paper when he asked her for a pen.

When the girl told him she had a pen for him, Kanye initially refused her autograph request due to his dislike of its design. “Y’all gonna make me hold a bunny pen, huh?” he said half jokingly, prompting laughs from the small crowd.

Showing he was serious, he then asked: “Nobody else got another pen?” Luckily for the fan, somebody else handed Kanye a different pen and the young girl walked away with an autograph.
