Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor have officially separated.
Following several reports regarding the Vanderpump Rules alums seemingly living in different homes, Brittany, 35, confirmed their split on their shared podcast on Thursday, stating that after a “rough” year in her marriage to Jax, 44, she decided to move into another home and focus on her mental health and two-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.
“I just think it’s important to be real and honest with you guys. I don’t want to seem like I’m lying or anything like that so I think it’s important for me to say this. I know on my last podcast, I alluded to many marriages go through rocky times. But with all the speculation online and stories running rapid, I wanted to be transparent with you guys,” Brittany began on the February 29 episode of When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany.
“Marriages in general are very hard and I’ve had a particularly rough year in mine this past year. Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health,” she continued.
According to Brittany, she isn’t ready to discuss the details surrounding her breakup with Jax because their split is still sensitive.
“I won’t get into too many details right now because this is still very hard to talk about and I’m taking things one day at a time. I don’t know what the future holds but right now, my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz,” she stated.
Also on the episode, after telling her listeners, “I love you guys,” Brittany encouraged them to “pray for us.”
After rumors began swirling in regard to a split between Brittany and Jax earlier this month, which Jax fueled further with a “cozy” pic of him and his publicist, Brittany spoke out on her podcast, insisting the publicist was a “very good friend” of hers, but admitting that marriages go through “hard” times.
“People go through ups and downs all the time, and it’s completely normal. Sometimes people might need their space; sometimes they won’t. But I just think that the media takes things and runs with it without knowing the true facts,” she stated.
She then denied the suggestion that she and Jax were staging a split to drum up buzz for The Valley.
“My life is not a publicity stunt for anything. We filmed The Valley months ago, months and months and months ago and we’re super excited for this to come out, and there’s been so many changes that has happened in every single couple’s lives, every single couple on the show. So I just want to make that very clear,” she noted. “I’m not gonna touch too much on anything else but definitely no publicity stunts are happening here, and just respect people’s privacy a bit because the media’s just getting a little bit out of control.”
The Valley season one is expected to premiere on Bravo this spring.
