Wonderful World is an upcoming Disney Plus and MBC Korean drama starring Cha Eun-Woo and Kim Nam-Joo in lead roles. It tells the story of the lead characters getting entangled in each other’s lives due to a connection related to their respective past traumas.

Eun Soo-Hyun is a psychological professor and an author. Her world turns upside down after her son’s death. When the justice system fails to punish the culprit, she decides to seek revenge. During the retribution journey, she encounters people who have gone through a similar ordeal. One of them is Kwon Seon-Yul, a young man who leads a rough life after losing his family.

Lee Seung-Young is the director of Wonderful World, while Kim Ji-Eun is the writer.

Wonderful World cast & plot

Wonderful World is the new MBC drama that features four main actors — Kim Nam-Joo, Cha Eun-Woo, Kim Kang-Woo, and Im Se-Mi.

Kim Nam-Joo plays Eun Soo-Hyun, a famous author and a psychological professor. One day, her son dies unjustly, and her life crumbles. Things get worse when the law fails her and lets the culprit roam free. Devastated and vengeful, she decides to punish the criminal herself. Nam-Joo is a popular K-drama actress who has previously appeared in series such as Misty, My Husband Got a Family, Queen of Reversals, and My Wife is a Superwoman.

Cha Eun-Woo essays the roles of Kwon Seon-Yul, a young man who drops out of medical school after losing his family. A series of unfortunate events take his family away from him, forcing him to live a rough life. ASTRO member Eun-Woo is a famous South Korean actor who has worked on many popular projects, including A Good Day To Be a Dog, True Beauty, Island, Gangnam Beauty, and Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung.

Fate brings the two lead characters together, and they join forces to overcome their past traumas. Along the way, they will meet Kim Kang-Woo and Im Se-Mi, who will play Kang Soo-Ho and Han Yoo-Ri, respectively.

The remaining Wonderful World cast members include Won Mi-Kyung, Kang Ae-Shim, Lee Joon, Yang Hye-Ji, Jin Geon-Woo, and Gil Hae-Yeon.

According to What’s On Disney Plus, the K-drama synopsis reads, “After a successful career that saw Eun Soohyun climb to the top of her field as a professor of psychology and a household name as a writer, she is brought crashing back to earth following the death of her son at the hands of others. Driven into a spiraling depression, Soohyun becomes consumed by one thought – revenge.”

Wonderful World release date and time

Wonderful World will premiere on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 9.50 p.m. on MBC. It will also stream on Disney Plus. The revenge K-drama will air twice a week on Fridays and Saturdays.

Speaking about the series with Xports News, lead actor Kim Nam-Joo said (originally in Korean), “The first thing I consider when choosing a project is, ‘Can I portray this character well?’ Eun Soo-Hyun is a character with strong maternal instincts, and I am a mother of two children myself, so I couldn’t help but immerse myself in Eun Soo Hyun’s emotions.”

She further spoke about her co-star Cha Eun-Woo. She mentioned, “He is an actor who surprises me more and more as time goes on. He is always open to advice, never hesitates to listen, and works hard in every moment, which made me feel at ease throughout filming. He is a good actor with a flexible mind and a positive attitude.”

Wonderful World is a highly anticipated K-drama of this year. It will soon air on Disney Plus and MBC.
