Joe Manganiello would love to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He did briefly appear in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movie as Flash Thompson, and at one point Taika Waititi offered him a role in Thor: Ragnarok, which he had to turn down. During an interview with CB, the actor talked about these things and also mentioned playing Agent Venom as a possibility:

“Would I love to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I mean, sure. Of course it’d be fun in the right project. I heard Sam Raimi’s doing Secret Wars, is that right? I don’t know, man. I don’t much about [Agent Venom], I’d imagine that’d be over at Sony. It would be very funny to come back that way.”

When asked if there have ever been talks about him playing Agent Venom, Manganiello responded:

“Zero. Years ago, Taika Waititi wanted me for one of the Thor movies and I couldn’t do it. It was impossible for me scheduling-wise to do it at the end of the day. But that would have been my reappearance back into the Marvel Universe. But I couldn’t do it.”

It’d be great to see Manganiello jump in on the MCU, and playing Agent Venom would be really cool. But, I don’t think Marvel will ever go in that direction.

As for who the actor would’ve played in Thor: Ragnarok, I’d guess that it was probably Skurge the Executioner, a character who was ultimately played by The Boys star Karl Urban.
