Kate Winslet’s Says She Doesn’t Know What Ozempic Actually Is
During an interview with the New York Times Magazine, Winslet talked about her lack of knowledge about Ozempic, stating, “I don’t know what Ozempic is. All I know is that it’s some pill that people are taking or something like that. But what is it?”
When informed that the drug is injected to suppress appetite for weight loss, the “Titanic” star reacted with shock, exclaiming, “Oh, my God. This sounds terrible. Let’s eat some more things!” She then jokingly proceeded to enjoy a pastry.
Reflecting on her own experiences with weight loss, Winslet also addressed the harsh criticism she’s faced regarding her weight, revealing her past struggles with an eating disorder.
She emphasized that she now refuses to tolerate discussions about weight and promptly confronts anyone who brings it up.
The actress explained, per Daily Mail, “I never told anyone about it. Because guess what — people in the world around you go: ‘Hey, you look great! You lost weight!’”
“So even the compliment about looking good is connected to weight. And that is one thing I will not let people talk about. If they do, I pull them up straight away,” Winslet added.
Kate Winslet Applauds Young Stars Standing Against Fat-Shaming
Winslet recently expressed her support for young stars who stand up against fat-shaming and use their voices in the entertainment industry.
During an appearance on “The Today Show,” host Hoda Kotb praised Winslet as a “champion for women.” However, Kotb noted, “But you didn’t lead your career that way all the time because you were like a lot of young actresses.”
Winslet responded: “It’s really interesting how much it has changed. And I think about the moments I did have to kind of say, ‘Well look, I’m going to be myself. And I have curves. And this is who I am.’”
She highlighted the positive shift in the industry, crediting the empowerment of young women. “That has changed. And it’s changed because young women now, they’re born with a voice,” Winslet stated.
“They have a voice, they’re learning how to hang on to it, they stand up for themselves. They know that they matter. They count for something. They’re great together,” Winslet continued. “It’s an exciting time, I think, for younger actresses to be coming into an industry like this one, which is huge. But to feel held, supported, nurtured, it’s changed so much. It’s wonderful.”

In another interview with the Sunday Times, Winslet talked about facing harsh criticism early in her career. Recalling her experiences, she remembered being typecast in “fat girl” roles and expressed how damaging such scrutiny can be, adding: “It can be extremely negative. People are subject to scrutiny than a young, vulnerable person can cope with.”
Despite the challenges, the 45-year-old sees a positive shift in the film industry. Winslet said: “But in the film industry, it is changing. When I was younger my agent would get calls saying, ‘How’s her weight?’ I kid you not. So it’s heartwarming that this has started to change.”
In 2021, Winslet also candidly discussed the body criticism she faced during her breakout role in “Titanic” at age 21. She condemned the “borderline abusive” body shaming she endured from overzealous fans of the blockbuster film.
Reflecting on the hurtful comments during an interview on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, she said, “Apparently, I was too fat. Why were they so mean to me? They were so mean. I wasn’t even f—— fat.”
