Countdown – Bite ‘Em Down

The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League cricket competition is fast approaching, and teams have been preparing for what is shaping up to be one of the most closely fought IPL seasons since the competition began in 2008. On this page, we will be taking a closer look at which team will most likely come out on top this year, with both the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) looking to win their record-breaking sixth IPL title.

Which cricket team is going to win IPL 17?

IPL 17 (which is otherwise known as IPL 2024, or TATA IPL for sponsorship reasons) is officially set to get underway this year on March 22 at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai in the opening game of the season when the current reigning champions, CSK, take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Both CSK and MI (who finished fourth last year) will be looking to win their sixth IPL title. The quickest, easiest, and most reliable way to find out which Indian Premier League team will most likely finish the season at the top of the table would be to check the latest odds on the IPL 17 info hub 10CRIC Sports.
This globally renowned iGaming site is fully licensed and regulated to offer real money gambling services and is known for having some of the industry’s most accurate and competitive cricket odds.

At the time of writing, CSK are the odds-on favourite to win, followed by the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI), who are both joint-second odds-on favourites to win behind CSK. Let’s take a closer look at the odds and what these odds tell us about the implied probability rate of each team winning:

● IPL team: CSK. Decimal odds: 5.75. IPR (implied probability rate of winning in percentage form): 17.40%● IPL team: GT. Decimal odds: 6.50. IPR: 15.40%● IPL team: MI. Decimal odds: 6.50. IPR: 15.40%● IPL team: LSG (Lucknow Super Giants). Decimal odds: 8.90. IPR: 12.50%● IPL team: RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore). Decimal odds: 8.50. IPR: 11.80%● IPL team: Rajasthan Royals (RR). Decimal odds: 9.00. IPR: 11.10%● IPL team: GT. Decimal odds: 6.50. IPR: 15.40%● IPL team: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Decimal odds: 10.00. IPR: 11.00%● IPL team: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Decimal odds: 12.00. IPR: 8.30%● IPL team: Punjab Kings (PBKS). Decimal odds: 12.00. IPR: 8.30%● IPL team: Delhi Capitals (DC). Decimal odds: 13.00. IPR: 7.70%

In other words, a much safer bet would be on CSK to win IPL 17 outright. However, they are not the overwhelming favourites like Max Verstappen to win the 2024 F1 Driver’s Championship.

In the IPL, the teams are more evenly priced, meaning the Gujarat Titans, the Mumbai Giants, or even the Lucknow Super Giants could surprise everyone and win this year.

What do we know so far about IPL 17?

A total of 10 teams will participate in this year’s Twenty20 (T20) cricket competition – the world’s most popular and successful domestic cricket league, and 74 matches will be played at venues across India.
The Gujarat Titans play their home games at the 132,000-capacity Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Their captain is Hardik Pandya, and the GT coach is Ashish Nehra.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore play their home games at the 35,000-capacity M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Their captain is Faf Du Plessis, and the RCB coach is Sanjay Bangar.

The Chennai Super Kings play their home games at the 39,000-capacity M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Their captain is MS Dhoni, and the CSK coach is Stephen Fleming.

The Delhi Capitals play their home games at the 32,200-capacity Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Their captain is David Warner, and the DC coach is Ricky Ponting.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad play their home games at the 55,000-capacity Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. Their captain is Pat Cummins, and the SRH coach is Daniel Vettori.

The Rajasthan Royals play their home games at the 25,000-capacity Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Their captain is Sanju Samson, and the RR coach is Kumar Sangakkara.

The Kolkata Knight Riders play their home games at the 68,000-capacity Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Their captain is Shreyas Iyer, and the KKR coach is Chandrakant Pandit.

The Lucknow Super Giants play their home games at the 50,000-capacity Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Their captain is KL Rahul, and the LSG coach is Sanjiv Goenka.

The Punjab Kings play their home games at the 26,000-capacity Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Their captain is Shikhar Dhawan, and the PBKS coach is Trevor Bayliss.

The Mumbai Indians play their home games at the 33,108-capacity Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Their captain is Hardik Pandya, and the MI coach is Mark Boucher.

The Delhi Capitals play their home games at the 27,500-capacity ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam. Their captain is David Warner, and the DC coach is Ricky Pontin.

The Kolkata Knight Riders made history in December 2023 at the IPL mini auction when they paid a record-breaking auction fee of 24.75 crore to secure the services of Australian international cricketer Mitchell Starc this season. KKR fans will be hoping Starc can lead the team to victory this year.
The Rajasthan Royals’ secret weapon this year will be Shubham Dubey, and CSK fans will be hoping New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchel will make the difference.ODI World Cup winner Pat Cummins could prove the difference for SRH, and some of the other players everyone will be watching this year are Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Prithvi, Shubman Gill, Sameer Rizvi, Suryakumar Yadav, Kane Williamson, Ravis Head, Rachin Ravindra, Jasprit Bumrah, and Jos Buttler, to name a few key players.
