Mia Thornton dubs RHOP co-star Ashley Darby a gold digger amid her much discussed divorce from Michael Darby.
Ashley Darby’s divorce, or lack thereof, is the hottest topic on the Real Housewives of Potomac at the moment. It’s almost two years since Ashley Darby announced her separation from Michael Darby in April 2022 but they are no closer to closing the chapter on their eight year marriage than they were this time last year.
While separated, Ashley and Michael remain married and it seems that the RHOP OG isn’t in any rush to finalize their divorce due to her iron-clad prenup and the lack of alimony she is set to receive once their marriage is officially over.
It seems that Ashley may be more concerned with the financial security Michael provides than from actually being free of him.
Throughout season of RHOP, Ashley’s co-stars have engaged in multiple conversations in an effort to get the bottom of Ashley’s decision to not finalize her divorce from Michael.
Some the Potomac Housewives have been more direct with their comments while others have simply made comments behind Ashley’s back. Naturally, Mia Thornton falls into the latter category.
As a result Mia made a shocking accusations against Ashley on the most recent episode of RHOP.
During a group dinner, RHOP stars Wendy Osefo and Nneka Ihim called out Mia for dubbing Ashley a “gold digger.”
Mia clapped back, noting how Ashley’s behavior has changed from the start of her separation until now.
“Last year you were TikToking all around and you were like, ‘Yeah! Getting a divorce! I think you’re not getting it right now because you married Michael for his money,” Mia said.
Ashley fired back by asking Mia is she married her husband Gordon Thornton for love or money and financial security.
However, Mia insisted that Gordon was “broke” when they met, which isn’t the story she told during her first season of RHOP.
“I’m 100 percent completely honest with you guys,” Mia told the group before suggesting that Ashley “should be honest with yourself.”
The 36-year-old shared her true feelings about Mia’s comments in her confessional interview.
The mother-of-two shared, “I just think she’s jealous because Mia thought she was gold digging but she really got fool’s gold. Okay? My s— was real and authentic and she got some pyrite.”
She then revealed what Michael contributes to her life financially.
“Michael and I both pay for the children so when it comes to their schooling, clothes all that stuff we both contribute to that,” she continued in her confessional. “I will say Michael does contribute to my car, at least for now.”
Michael also provides Ashley with a credit card for “emergencies” however the Bravoleb admits she doesn’t feel “comfortable using” it.
“We do have a joint account and that joint account I use for the children — even for the groceries I take out of that account… and Uber Eats,” Ashley explained.
RHOP airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
