Marvel’s The Fantastic 4 has brought in a new writer to polish up the script. According to THR, Eric Pearson has joined the MCU project. Pearson previously worked on films such as Thor: Ragnarok and Black Widow.
The report also says that he has a bit of a reputation among Marvel brass for getting projects to completion. As you might imagine, there’s a lot of pressure on Marvel to get The Fantastic 4 movie right. The script needs to be top-notch, and if this is the guy that can get it there… great!
I’m excited about this movie! The thing that I think is cool about it is that it’s going to be set in the 1960s. This is the version of the Fantastic Four that I’ve always wanted to see explored! I wrote a whole thing about the 60s setting that you can read here.
The movie stars Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.
Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, who was brought in to re-write the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
Fantastic 4 will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
