Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney are calling BS on Scheana Shay and Tom Sandoval’s tear-filled moment on the last week’s episode of Pump Rules.
On last Tuesday’s episode of Vanderpump Rules, Scheana Shay shared the she had conflicting feelings about Tom Sandoval following his cheating scandal with Raquel Leviss.
To start, Scheana explained why she was struggling with shutting Sandoval out of her life following his affair with Raquel. The 38-year-old says that she and Sandoval were always close so much so that during the pandemic he helped her with “several thousand dollars” when she was in a bind.
While Scheana insists she is not “torn” between Tom and Ariana, noting she’s “Team Ariana til I die” but clearly that is exactly what the case is even if Scheana can’t admit it.
As the Pump Rules cast continued their trip to Lake Tahoe, sans Ariana Madix or Katie Maloney, Scheana found herself paired up with Sandoval for a mediation activity but the whole thing seemed be too much for her to handle.
Almost immediately Scheana began crying, admitting that she was “not okay.” As she got up to leave Scheana told Sandoval “I still f—king hate you.”
After having a powwow with her hubby, Brock Davies, Scheana returned to the exercise which is when she told Sandoval, “I need to let go of the hate, it’s not good for me.”
Sandoval then got emotional reflecting on “all the beautiful and amazing times” he and Scheana had together over the years. Scheana then admitted that she was “genuinely worried” after Scandoval that “you were going to do something to yourself.”
“I don’t want to keep hating you and I have to let go of that because it doesn’t feel good. But you did this,” she shared, noting afterwards that she finally felt Sandoval’s “mask finally fell.”
“That’s my friend Tom and he misses me and our friendship and he knows how bad he f–ked up,” she added.
While Scheana, and Lala Kent feel that Sandoval “can’t be crucified day in and day out” anymore over his affair, Ariana doesn’t it see it that way at all.
In fact, Ariana has made it clear that she wouldn’t be making time in her life for anyone who was friends with Sandoval moving forward.
“It’s like being made out to be this big dramatic moment, but it’s just me continuing on the path I’m continuing on. I can’t imagine looking at life right now and being like, ‘The missing piece is Tom Sandoval,’” Ariana said.
As for why she didn’t want to have nay mutual friends with Sandoval, Ariana explains that she doesn’t “want him having access to me in my life.”
Later on in Tuesday’s episode of Pump Rules, Scheana opened up to Ariana about her chat with Sandoval.
“You putting yourself in a position to be friends with somebody who would do this to you, is not someone I want you to be friends with for you,” Ariana told Scheana.
“You know how close we were and it was a really heavy loss for me. I’ve just been struggling with that. I’m like, I miss you, but we’ll never be what we were because you did this,” Scheana pointed out.
Scheana then told Ariana that she needs “let go of the hatred I had for him” and can’t “keep hating him for you,” which didn’t rub Ariana the right way.
On the Vanderpump Rules After Show, Ariana reflected on her conversation with Scheana as well as Scheana’s emotional sit down with Sandoval.
Ariana insists that she’s “been very understanding” of Scheana’s pain over losing Sandoval as a friend. However she admits, “I don’t know what else I need to do.”
“If that’s a road she wants to goes down, she has every right to do that and can,” Ariana said of Scheana forgiving Sandoval. “But I don’t think I need to be the one who co-signs it.”
She further discussed Scheana’s movitvations for reconciling with Sandoval, telling Pump Rules co-star Katie Maloney:
“Because [Tom] said he didn’t give a f-ck about her and they were never really friends, like, that hurt her feelings obviously — as it should — but instead of being like, ‘That really hurt my feelings and that was a f-cked up thing to say, so now I don’t need to put stock in this person anymore,’ now she needs to get that back somehow.”
Naturally, Katie chimed in to the Scheana and Sandoval’s potential reconciliation.
She called the whole situation “ridiculous” and shed insight into Scheana’s need to repair her relationship with Sandoval.
“I think it’s kind of ridiculous. I just don’t understand it, the being conflicted over missing a person again who kind of doesn’t exist,” the Pump Rules OG explained. “Because it’s like, I understand you guys were close at a certain point … but you’ve been very, very, very close with Ariana, so if you’re having a hard time making a choice, this person made it very easy on you because they’ve been an asshole to you. You should be very happy that they’ve made this choice very easy on you.”
Katie then said that she believes Scheana “is a male sympathizer.”
“I don’t mean this as a put-down, this is just an observation,” Katie added. “There’s something about male validation that she really seeks out.”
A prime example, according to Katie, is how Scheana befriended Tom Schwartz during their divorce despite them not having a friendship prior.
“When Tom [Schwartz] and I were going through a divorce, suddenly Tom Schwartz was one of her very, very good friends who really needed her support,” Katie said of Scheana. “And during this time [with] Ariana and Sandoval, she just really needs that friendship with Tom Sandoval.”
