TV personality, rapper, and podcaster Amber Rose is the latest celebrity to join ‘The Jason Lee Show, where she talks about her past relationships with Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West (and his VMAs moment), and Alexander Edwards (aka AE), who is currently dating Cher. Rose also tells host Jason Lee about her battle with mental health, including suicidal thoughts, and how she copes. In her sit-down, she also talks about becoming an Atheist, reconciling with Blac Chyna, and her viral fight with Joseline Hernandez on BET’s ‘College Hill.’
Speaking with Jason Lee, Amber Rose recalls her life before fame and how things skyrocketed once she met Kanye West. Rose, who was born and raised in South Philadelphia, PA, recalls her days dancing in the club and being discovered while living in the projects in the Bronx, New York. She says she went from being the “girl next door” to rocking $3,000 pants in Paris with paparazzi chasing her down.
Jumping into her past with ex-boyfriend Kanye West, Amber Rose tells host Jason Lee all about them falling in love with each other and things eventually turning extremely sour. She says they really did love each other and that when they first got together, she didn’t think it would be what it turned out to be. She felt like it was a dictatorship. Rose says there was no balance in the relationship. She says Ye always wanted to travel and go places, which she thought was cool, but sometimes she just wanted to stay home, have friends over, and chill.
She notes that for Ye’s ex-wife and children’s mother Kim Kardashian, that was an ideal lifestyle for her because she came from that world. Rose admits that she didn’t know how to deal with fame and that she felt stuck and controlled by Ye; but in hindsight, she now looks at it as Ye was just trying to help her navigate through the fame because he saw that she didn’t know how to deal.

Amber Rose also recalls the September 2009 MTV VMAs, where Kanye famously interrupted Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech for “Best Female Video,” claiming Beyoncé had “one of the best videos of all time” and deserved the award for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” Rose admits she blames herself for the famous stunt because she encouraged Ye to drink ahead of the show.
Recalling that fateful day, Rose says as they were heading to the show, she told him, “You’re a rockstar. Let’s get a bottle of Henny and walk on the red carpet with it.” Ye obliged and while in the car, they were both driving and living their best lives. Once Taylor Swift made her way to the stage, Rose says she saw Beyonce making a face at the stage, so she looked at the stage and saw Ye getting ready to interject Swift.
Ye made it up onto the stage so fast, that no one could stop him; however, after the viral moment, Rose says he initially felt bad because he didn’t want to steal that moment from Swift, it wasn’t his main objective. He just felt so strongly about “Single Ladies” being the better video, thus the feeling of Beyoncé being robbed.

After two years of dating, Amber Rose and Kanye West split in July 2010 and she later alleged that she endured “constant bullying” from him in the wake of their split. Speaking with Jason Lee, Amber Rose says for several years after they split, she couldn’t talk about their relationship because it was “frowned upon.” However, she says she felt like she had to “escape” Kanye because her mental health wasn’t okay and she needed to just get out; plus, she claimed she was getting cheated on a lot.
Rose says she left Ye without any goodbyes. She was so happy to leave even though she left without any money to rent an apartment or any credit to purchase a house. She revealed she had to start all over. Post-Kanye West, Amber Rose says she got herself a new Twitter page and asked Nicki Minaj to shout her page out.
It resulted in over 350,000 new followers within 24 hours. She then created an email for bookings and began locking in her own appearances at $2,500. Because she had to hustle to gain her freedom, physically, mentally, and financially, Amber Rose says she hates when people act like she was handed everything, it’s the opposite. She eventually made her first million in 2011.
Speaking of never getting credit for her comeback, Amber Rose also talks about never getting credit for connecting Kanye West and Nicki Minaj for his song “Monster.” She also notes that she and the femcee are no longer speaking, clarifying that there’s no beef, just them growing apart and living very different lives. Rose also says she should have gotten $20 million from Ye’s album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy‘ because there was a naked wax figure made of her and no one requested permission for her likeness.

While speaking on her marriage with ex and son Sebastian Taylor‘s father Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose tells host Jason Lee that she met her “soulmate” a year after she left Kanye West. She briefly talks about their relationship and notes that they are still great friends and even better co-parents. She reveals one of their rules is that they don’t bring up anything to each other unless it’s about the kids. She says everything else is off-limits.
Speaking on her second son’s father Alexander Edwards, aka “AE,” Amber Rose says things went a little differently in this relationship. She tells host Jason Lee that they got together, had a baby, and she quickly found out that he was a serial cheater. She learned he was cheating when their son, Slash Electric, was one week old. While she was enduring bad postpartum she found out AE was creeping throughout the entire pregnancy, despite her still having pregnant sex with him.
Rose says she discovered there were about 12 women and she messaged them all. She says there were so many girls it was laughable, especially because none of them were attractive. However, due to her postpartum and being furious with her then-partner, Rose says she wasn’t in a good head space and blew all of the women up, asking them to tell her the truth because she clearly wasn’t getting it from her partner. Rose asserts she would never do that again and calls AE a narcissist who gaslit her and made her feel crazy and out of character all of the time.

Despite being in this “sh*tty relationship,” Amber Rose says she wouldn’t ever bash her son’s father because she loves her son and wants to remain respectful for his sake. She says Slash loves his dad and that he can explain to his son when he’s older why his mother had to endure all that she did. To note: AE has admitted to cheating on Rose via a public apology on Instagram, in which he pleaded for her to take him back.
Since splitting from Amber Rose, Alexander Edwards has moved on with legendary songstress Cher. Rose admits that Cher’s songs are still on her playlists and that she loves the singer, affirming, that nothing is her fault. However, she says that when Cher finds out who AE really is, things will be different.
Speaking further on AE’s characteristics, she says he’s very introverted and will open up to people once he really knows you. She also says he doesn’t really have a type and that’s why she is happy for him and Cher, especially because their union creates stability for Slash. Rose says their son is always happy when he gets to go to Cher’s house. Rose says she just wants AE to be a present father and appreciates that he helps put their son through private school.

In addition to dealing with her postpartum from her last son, and the drama with his father, Amber Rose tells host Jason Lee that she was very suicidal after giving birth, and has been for the last three and a half years. She says things became so bad she once had to call the suicide hotline because she’s not that close with her family. When she called, they asked how likely she was to kill herself, 0-10, and she said 0 despite really feeling the opposite.
Rose reveals she is still coping with her suicidal thoughts and has to microdose on Ketamine. She says it’s the only thing that saved her life, aside from her children. Ketamine is commonly known as a street drug, but Rose says she gets it prescribed through her doctor. She says it doesn’t make her feel high, so she takes a pill right before bed when she’s feeling sleepy, and it helps regulate the chemicals in her body.
In addition to speaking on her own journey of mental health and finding self, Amber Rose talks to host Jason Lee about her friendship with Blac Chyna and how they recently reconciled. The two have been friends for over a decade, but in the last few years they hadn’t been seen together, attached at the hip, as they once used to be. Chyna was previously on ‘The Jason Lee Show‘ and told the host that she and Rose weren’t talking and weren’t on the best of terms.
Since then, Chyna has told talk show host Tamron Hall that she and Rose have reconciled. Rose confirms that she and Chyna are back on good terms while briefly explaining what led to their falling out. She says that after they first met, they got really close really fast and that alcohol became a bit of a third wheel. Rose says as their friendship grew, the drinking got worse. Rose says Chyna had a lot of enablers around her at the time, but now that Chyna’s purged and sobered up, Rose reached back out and they’re now close again.
The two have even talked about creating content together for Rose’s new YouTube channel, Just Amber Rose, where she uploads day-in-the-life videos of herself, family, and friends. A few series are titled: ‘Cooking with Amber,’ ‘Living with Amber,’ ‘Amber Rose Podcast,’ and another podcast called ‘I Hope They’re Not Listening.’ Rose says she’s been a recluse for so long that she wants to open up more and show people her real personality.

While recalling her time on BET’s ‘College Hill,’ particularly her viral fight with ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta‘ star Joseline Hernandez, Amber Rose says the incident was the result of three weeks’ worth of bullying. Fellow ‘College Hill‘ cast member and Reality TV star Tiffany Pollard, aka “New York,” was recently on ‘The Jason Lee Show‘ and recapped the fight for those who didn’t see it.
Rose says Pollard perfectly recapped the fight, which resulted in Rose and Hernandez being expelled from the college they were attending. Rose alleges that everyone in the house was being bullied, from her to singer Omarion‘s brother O’Ryan to singer Ray J, Hernandez was allegedly fighting with everybody. Rose says producers didn’t show that, but notes that the house was very hostile leading up until her fight with Hernandez.
Recalling the incident, Rose alleges Hernandez kept poking her about claiming biracial and that Hernandez, who is Puerto Rican, was bashing white women and calling them ugly. Having had enough, Rose got up to take a smoke break but ended up hitting Hernandez with “an 8-piece” as she walked past her desk. She says the Afro-Latina rapper underestimated her. However, she states that Hernandez is beautiful, but claims the cocaine she consumes makes her crazy and erratic.

Elsewhere in the interview, Amber Rose tells host Jason Lee about becoming an Atheist. She says she’s not anti-God, she just doesn’t believe in God. She also clarifies that she’s not a Satanist, adding that that religion is very logical, but also uses that name to troll Christians. She recalls going on a spiritual journey where she was looking into Buddhism and all other religions. She was in the church her whole life, but never felt a spirit, thus leading to her belief in science and evolution, but not what’s written in the Bible.
Rose says after going to church for multiple days throughout the week for most of her young life, she just realized that there is no evidence that God exists at all. She also believes that Jesus is a cult leader and doesn’t believe in hell or the devil. Rose also says she knows so many Christians who are liars and delusional, so they aren’t helping sell anything to her. However, she says she doesn’t believe in converting anyone, she just speaks her truth and minds her business.
As for her children and religion, Rose says her children love God and the family still celebrates Christmas. She says her son Sebastian is a big believer and she even gave him her baby bible from 1992 and he loves it. She says he prays to God every night and also knows that his mother has opposing beliefs. Aside from their differences in beliefs, Rose says she’s very much an annoying mother because she actually cares about her children. She recalls being outside from sun up to sun down and won’t let that be the case for her children. She also reveals that she stopped doing her annual Slut Walk events because she didn’t want her kids to see her in a negative light.

However, she does admit that once she’s open to dating, she doesn’t mind if they’re White, Black, or Asian, but will immediately object to a rapper. She also admits that she once dated a transgender man back in the day, but would never date a woman again and would never be in an open relationship again. She’s also never dating broke again, she tried it and it’s not it. She needs someone rich and with kids, noting that she’s done having babies.
