#Socialites, get a load of this! Shannon Sharpe says that he made more money from his viral Katt Williams interview than he ever earned in an NFL season.

The professional football player-turned-podcaster who hosts ‘Club Shay Shay’ reflected on his recent success on his other podcast ‘Nightcap,’ with whom he co-hosts with Chad Johnson, aka Ochocinco. During a recent episode, Sharpe talked about how well he kicked off 2024 with his viral Katt Williams sit-down, which was followed by another viral interview with comedian Mo’Nique.
Speaking with Ochocinco, the Football Hall of Famer said, “Everybody was talking about how much money I made doing the Katt Williams interview. I just got the check. So whatever you think I made, 3x it. So if you think I made $500,000, 3x it. If you think I made a million, 3x it. If you think I made $2 million, 3x it.” Shannon Sharpe added, “I made more money on Katt Williams alone than I made in any year that I played the NFL.”

To note, Shannon Sharpe made $5 million in 2000 when he signed with the Baltimore Ravens. However, $4.5 million of that was a signing bonus. His highest base salary for a single season was in 1999 when he earned $2.25 million with the Denver Broncos.
In later years, Sharpe’s earnings varied from $110,000 to $3 million. According to Spotrac, Sharpe pulled in $22.3 million in career earnings during 15 seasons with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens.

At the time of publishing this article, Shannon Sharpe’s nearly three-hour Katt Williams interview on ‘Club Shay Shay’ boasts more than 61 million views, two months after its release. In addition to the 61-million-viewed full interview video, Sharpe’s podcast channel also uploads a variety of clipped moments from the full interview, all of which also have views in the hundreds of thousands and millions.
Despite all of Shannon Sharpe’s success with his viral Katt Williams interview, the sit-down also garnered tons of backlash and criticism calling out the host for being messy and not remaining objective. He ended up responding to the backlash on an episode of ‘Nightcap.’ He told his co-host Ochocino, “Sometimes the only success they get to taste is taking a bite out of you.” He added that people were just simply mad at his success.
