Mike Flanagan, the director behind Doctor Sleep, Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Haunting of Hill House, has shared his review of Sony’s latest Marvel movie, Madame Web, and it’s sure to make you laugh.

For his Letterboxd review, Flanagan decided to write out Nicole Kidman’s infamous AMC Theatres speech from the theater chain’s advertising campaign. When you read it and think of the kind of movie Madame Web ended up being, you can’t help but laugh.

He also included some funny tags to his post that include, “responsibility”, “great power”, “exposition to cats,” “convenient explosives,” “murder visions,” “fireworks because,” “britney spears”, “don’t say Peter Parker,” “wait why is she blind,” and “terrible nurses.” He also added “ADR,” “dubbing,” “no really,” “the ADR,” a reference to the terrible ADR that was used for the majority of Tahar Rahim’s lines as the villain Ezekiel Sims in the movie.

Here’s Flanagan’s full take on Madame Web:

We come to this place… for magic. We come to the theater to laugh, to cry, to care. Because we need that, all of us: that indescribable feeling we get when the lights begin to dim, and we go somewhere we’ve never been before; not just entertained, but somehow reborn…. together. Dazzling images, on a huge silver screen. Sound that I can feel. Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this. Our heroes feel like the best part of us, and stories feel perfect and powerful. Because here… They are.

Yeah, that appropriately works for this movie! I still for the life of me can’t understand why or how this movie got made and was released. It’s insane to me!
