This season of The Real Housewives of Potomac is coming to a close soon. Of course, Ashley Darby has been a bit of a hot topic as she and her husband, Michael Darby, have yet to file for divorce. Now, she’s opening up about being involved with a man from the past as well as officially divorcing.
Ashley and Michael have been married for eight years. She announced their separation in April of 2022.
The RHOP star recently opened up to People about dating again after breaking up with Summer House star Luke Gulbranson. According to Ashley, she is seeing someone, but she doesn’t call it a relationship.
Ashley said, “I have a friend. We’ve only been talking for about four months.”
Of course, this isn’t the most clear-cut process, as she’s still legally married. Additionally, she was married to Michael for so long that dating has changed.
She continued, “I’m still learning what dating means in this world. There’s a lot of terminology that I’m trying to get the feel for. But we’re having fun.”
Ashley then discusses how she met the new guy she’s ‘talking’ to several years ago. In fact, she knew him before she knew Michael. This new guy also happens to be closer to her in age. He’s 49, and she’s 35. Michael is currently 64.
She said, “I was at a Friendsgiving party, and the party was about to end, and he walked through the door, and I was like, ‘Holy…’ — one of those moments. So yeah, he asked me out. We went out the next day for dinner.”
In terms of when she’ll divorce Michael, Ashley says, “We’re slowly wading through. We’re not in the mud, there are some movements.”
She then talked about not feeling pressure to file for divorce but also understanding the importance of moving on and putting the marriage behind them.
“I’m not feeling as pressured, but what my uncle said to me the other day was, emotionally, I’m never going to be free if I don’t do this. And maybe that’s true. So I’ll get there.”
