Usher cemented his legacy when Confessions dropped back in 2004, and he is now celebrating two decades since the release of what many consider to be his career-greatest album.

On Saturday (March 23), the R&B icon shared a video montage on Instagram to commemorate 20 years of the landmark project that produced such hits as “Throwback,” “Burn,” “Caught Up,” “Confessions II” and “Yeah!”

“20 years ago today, we dropped the iconic ‘Confessions’ album, which is now 14x Platinum. Making it the highest RIAA certified album by a male soloist released this century,” he captioned the post.

“The love and support from my Day 1s has been nothing short of incredible. Thank you for rocking with me through every lyric, every beat, and every confession. Thank you to each and every important collaborator that was apart of this very special project that helped mold and shape my career as an artist. Without you, Confessions wouldn’t be the masterpiece it is.”

He concluded: “Here’s to the memories, the vibes, and the timeless music that continues to move us. Let’s keep making history!!”

Last year, the 45-year-old set the record straight regarding the possibility of a Confessions sequel, disappointing fans who had their fingers crossed. He did, however, refrain from completely shutting down the idea.

During an interview with The Shade Room over the summer, the “You Make Me Wanna” singer revealed that Confessions 2 is not on the way.

“That’s just a rumor, at this point,” he said about the speculation surrounding his masterpiece. “But, who knows? When we get there, we’ll see.”

He continued: “We got time. There’s space and opportunity to think of new ideas. But the one that is 20 years old was a brilliant one. For every producer, writer, and creative that had anything to do with it, we celebrate 20 years of an album.

“I mean, most people don’t even have careers that last that long. So, to have an actual album that has stood the test of time? I appreciate my fans for continuing to love the music.”
