Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are returning for the fourth installment of the Bad Boys franchise.
The duo starred in the first buddy cop film alongside Téa Leoni back in 1995 and returned to the big screen for the 2003 sequel.
Nearly two decades later, Lawrence and Smith reprised their respective roles as Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey in 2020’s Bad Boys for Life. Although the third installment was a box office smash, the future of the franchise seemed uncertain after Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. The actor faced widespread criticism in the wake of the incident and was banned from all Academy events, including the Oscars, for the next 10 years.
Despite the backlash, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said he would “absolutely” work with Smith on another Bad Boys film during a December 2022 interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
“Will make a mistake, unfortunately,” Bruckheimer said. “That’s not who he is. He’s a phenomenal actor and there’s always forgiveness in the world.”
In January 2023, it was confirmed that Bad Boys 4 was in pre-production. Keep scrolling for everything to know about the film:
