July 25-27 Box Office Recap – ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ opens with a fantastic $117.6M domestically. But it disappoints overseas, earning just $99M. Worldwide, ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ crosses $700M, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ crosses $600M, while ‘F1’ and ‘Superman’ cross $500M.

After hearing how great of a film Cabrini is, I finally got around to watching it for myself, and I’m happy that I managed to catch it in theaters. In a time where movies are often dominated by big franchise spectacles and high-octane thrillers, Cabrini emerges as a radiant beacon of powerful storytelling, as it invites audiences into the remarkable life of Francesca Xavier Cabrini, the first American saint. Directed with a compelling blend of grace and vigor, this film is beautifully made and it captivates through its meticulously woven story, wonderful direction, and exemplary performances.

At the heart of Cabrini is the rich, inspiring true story of a woman whose legacy is built on compassion, resilience, and determination. These traits are magnificently portrayed by Christiana Dell’Anna, who brings to life the Italian immigrant whose unyielding spirit and boundless ambition established a stronghold of hope for New York City’s most destitute. Supported by a stellar cast, including John Lithgow and David Morse, the film encapsulates the essence of Cabrini’s mission and the monumental impact of her work among the Italian immigrants of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The screenplay and well-crafted storytelling navigates Cabrini’s journey from her humble beginnings in Italy to her canonization as a saint. It is a narrative that focuses on Cabrini’s unwavering commitment to the service of others. Her fight against the prevailing forces of misogyny, bigotry, and classism, combined with her tireless efforts to uplift the poor and orphaned, is portrayed with both sensitivity and strength.

The film also does not shy away from the challenges Cabrini faced. Instead, it presents them as crucial elements of her remarkable journey, offering an exquisite exploration of her character and her extraordinary achievements.

The film shows us how one person’s indomitable spirit can ignite change and inspire generations. The film’s visual storytelling complements its narrative depth, with each frame thoughtfully crafted to enhance the emotional and historical resonance of Cabrini’s story.

The film also resonates with me on a personal level, echoing the experiences of countless individuals who have been touched by the legacy of Francesca Cabrini. When I was growing up, my Grandma used to tell me the story of how when she was a young girl, she had developed some kind of crazy infection in her leg, and doctors wanted to cut it off. Instead, she ended up being sent to a hospital in Los Angeles run by Nuns. She always talked about those nuns and how they were so sweet and compassionate and how they helped her through this ordeal and nursed her back to health without having to amputate her leg. I’ve been told that this was one of the places that was organized by Cabrini.

Cabrini is a tribute to one of the most inspiring figures in American history. It is the kind of film that encourages audiences to reflect on the values of service, empathy, and perseverance. In a time when the world is in need of genuine heroes, Cabrini presents a story of true heroism, reminding us that it is possible to fight harder and love better.

Cabrini is a must-watch film that inspires. It’s a film that truly gives the incredible woman, Francesca Xavier Cabrini, the movie she deserved. This stunning biopic is poised to be one of the most inspiring watches of the year that will resonate with anyone who believes in the power of kindness and the impact of living a life dedicated to the service of others.
