After Katie Maloney was put on blast for going home with Max Boyens after a night out with the cast on Tuesday’s new episode of Vanderpump Rules, she reflected on their “surprising” hookup on the After Show.
As Katie, 37, accused Max of being the aggressor in their flirtations and slammed Scheana Shay, 38, for lying and having “zero shame” as she tracked Max to her Los Angeles apartment, Scheana defended her sleuthing and Tom Schwartz, 40, suggested his ex-wife was “on a mission” to get under his skin by hooking up with one of his closest friends.
“You know what his response was? ‘Oh,’” Brock Davies, 33, recalled of the moment he told Schwartz about the hookup on the March 26 episode of the Vanderpump Rules: After Show.
“Even in a crazy rom-com movie, this would be insane,” James Kennedy, 32, replied. “Finding out that your best friend, that you’re hiking up at Runyon the daily, f*cking banged your ex-wife.”
While Schwartz has long been close with Max, he didn’t seem too upset about his hookup with his ex-wife. In fact, he seemed to blame Katie for their interaction as he also shared what Max told him after he found out.
“He actually called me, I think like five days later. I could tell he felt so uncomfortable. Then we went and got lunch in the valley and he was like, ‘Dude, I’m so sorry. Like, literally, alcohol. Just proximity.’ And I think Katie, I’m not saying she was the aggressor. I think it was mutual, but like, I think Katie was on a mission,” Schwartz suspected.
But according to Katie, hooking up with Max was “not on [her] bucket list.”
“There was more flirting on his part. I’ll put it that way. [And] the only reason why anyone knew was because Scheana was like, literally creeping on him,” she alleged.
Meanwhile, Scheana said that she didn’t just track Max that night; the two of them have had a long-standing relationship that allows them to see one another’s location.
“Max and I are very good friends. We talk often. We’ve shared locations with each other for a couple of years now,” she noted.
Although Tom Sandoval, 41, suspected Max was actually “summoned” to the location, Scheana denied any such thing.
“That night, he had actually checked my location and saw that I was at Melrose Place. He texted me and was like, ‘Hey, I’m around the corner. Are you gonna be out for a while?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah. You should come.’ So he comes,” she recalled. “I feel a vibe between him and Katie.”
As Scheana mentioned that she’d felt a vibe between Katie and Max before, Katie insisted she was taken aback by Max coming onto her.
“When he started acting that way, it was a little surprising because I was like, ‘For real? Okay. This is weird,’” Katie admitted.
As for what happened after the two of them left together, Scheana confessed to reaching out to Max and checking to see where he was.
“I was like, ‘Did you make it home safe?’ And then he sends me this weird emoji. And I was like, okay, and so I look at his location and I’m like, ‘Does he live in Katie’s building?’ And then I kind of put it together and I was like, ‘Huh,’” Scheana revealed. “Based on his cryptic texts to me, I tell Brock, I’m like, ‘I don’t know. I think maybe they’re hooking up.’”
“Then the next morning, Brock was like, ‘Is he still there,’ and I looked at his location and he was still there. So I just said, ‘Hey. Call me when you leave.’ And then he’s like, ‘You looked at my location didn’t you?’ I was like, ‘Mm-hm. I did,’” she continued.
But Katie didn’t think her behavior was so innocent.
“Scheana, he wasn’t going f*cking home. That’s such a f*cking lie,” she declared. “[And] you weren’t worried about me. I didn’t get a text. She had zero shame about what she was doing while she was doing it.”
Also on the Pump Rules: After Show, Jax Taylor, 44, revealed he got a text from Max after his hookup with Katie.
“He was like, ‘I did something really f*cked up.’ The biggest shot [of Johnny Walker].’ He’s like, ‘There was a disco ball. It was like four in the morning,’” Jax shared.
“I know that disco ball. In her apartment? That was our disco ball,” Schwartz replied, adding that he “can’t picture Max and Katie having sex.”
