Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard spoke about their sex life after the topic became an item of discussion among the cast on last week’s episode of Summer House.
After Lindsay, 37, was seen making what Kyle Cooke, 41, described as “demeaning” comments about her sex life with Carl, 39, Kyle and other members of the show, including Paige DeSorbo, 31, and Amanda Batula, 32, reacted to the fact that the then-engaged couple wasn’t having sex in the months leading up to their would-have-been wedding.
“She talked about your sex life in a pretty demeaning way,” Kyle told Carl on the March 28 episode of the Summer House: After Show. “I think it was one of the first signs to the girls in the house that something was seriously wrong. Amanda and Paige were like, ‘I can’t believe she’s talking about her sex life with her fiance like that.’”
According to Paige, she would never be able to stay in a sexless relationship.
“I feel like if you’re with someone who’s not very sexual, you should show them pamphlets for the ministry. I wouldn’t be able to do it at all because what else are we doing?” she wondered.
Meanwhile, Amanda criticized Lindsay for being so public about her intimate relationship with Carl.
“For her to be just so open about it on camera, it wasn’t even a sexual rut. There was a lot of details, I feel like, behind it throughout the summer and it made me feel … It was like she was airing their dirty sex laundry,” she noted.
Then, in his own segment, Carl admitted he and Lindsay only slept together twice last summer.
“As far as I remember, I think we only had sex one time over the summer, twice total, but the one time in the house. Yeah, I mean, I think that says more about the dynamic of the relationship than the sex itself,” he shared.
He then suggested that while Lindsay portrays herself as an overly sexual person, that’s not what he experienced during their relationship.
“I think people that are vocal like they’re sex-positive and all about sex, it’s actually the opposite. I think she would promote like she’s all about the sex, and I experienced something different in the relationship. When we did have sex, I thought it was pretty good, but the last seven to eight months of our relationship, every week being in couples therapy, the conflict and the ups and downs, it was hard to come together and do that,” he explained.
As for Lindsay, she admitted to questioning what was “normal” before looking back on a double date with Kyle and Amanda.
“There was something that I always think about in that moment. Amanda asked Carl, ‘What is the most surprising thing that you’ve learned about Lindsay since you’ve been dating.’ And Carl goes, ‘Lindsay’s more sexual than I thought.’ And I’m like, ‘You’re just now figuring this out?’” Lindsay recalled. “When I’m in a relationship, I want to have sex with my partner. I want to get weird. I would’ve done anything.”
Continuing on about the situation, Paige added, “I felt bad for her because the only thing I could compare it to is obviously my relationship, and I fight with my partner and he annoys the shit out of me, but we’re still having sex every single day, so I feel like if you’re not having sex, then it’s a deeper rooting thing.”
Summer House season eight airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
