Britney Spears Admits To Making ‘Mistakes’ In Marriage To Sam Asghari

The two met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016 before going on to tie the knot in June 2022, less than a year after her 13-year conservatorship was struck down by a judge.

In August 2023, the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

In an Instagram video that was deleted an hour after it was posted, Sam picked Britney up in the air before twirling her around and even giving her a dip. Britney wore a black crop top with white shorts while Sam was shirtless, wearing only black shorts. The two locked lips during the video, although she did not share when the throwback was taken.

“The time he picked me up … It’s weird cause there are always strange turns for relationships with friends family or your loved ones in the [roller coaster emoji] of any journey you’re on with someone !!!” she wrote, going on to say, “Looking back is hard sometimes but it’s honestly crucial … I’m honestly too sensitive in most situations.”

The 42-year-old pop star admitted that she wants to “protect” herself from the “same mistakes as before” when it comes to her relationships, but confessed that she does shut down when she feels as though she is “going through too much” and sometimes can’t figure out how to feel about a situation.

“Sometimes I’m scared to feel anything cause I know I’m too sensitive … being numb is the worst I think but there’s safety in that cause I feel like I’m subconsciously protecting myself from feeling any importance at all !!!” she wrote on Thursday night. “It’s tricky cause that’s what people can take advantage of. We are such complicated sensitive people.”

Despite her high-profile relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and ex-husband Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two children, she felt that dating “felt so much easier” when she was younger. The “Toxic” singer said that she felt as though she trusted people more before her conservatorship, as she hadn’t yet experienced the “cruelness of the world.”

However, the “Crossroads” actress went on to say that she knows that she loves “too much” and admits that she likes that part of herself, even if her relationships are “not all peaches and cream.”

“I used to be told all the time by someone I truly loved that there is no looking at that face of yours. My hopes in sharing is that by remembering that I can try and understand why I never feel good enough and to know it’s ok to get inside my brain try to figure it out…” she wrote, going on to say, “Honestly there is an all knowing spiritual eye that knows the truth and triggers to why we do things as people. It’s important to go in there and figure it out yourself !!!”

In a previous Instagram post shared last week, the “Oops!… I Did It Again” singer admitted that “nothing is what it seems sometimes” and that she tries to portray “that everything is perfect even when it’s not.”

“Trust me I’ve been through it as well and I would share those struggles but they are too offensive to share … it would make other people extremely sad and honestly there’s not a d— thing I can do about it so just know my life is not as perfect as it seems … and remember my beautiful friends you’re not alone !!!” Britney wrote at the time.

In March 2023, only a few months after filing for divorce, the aspiring actor said, “It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on.”

“I’ve always hated people leaving a certain relationship — and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] — so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other,” he continued. “That’s something I’m never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that’s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”

Despite filing for divorce in August 2023, the two have yet to reach a settlement in the divorce proceedings and are reportedly not speaking to each other amid their separation.
