Do you agree? Rapper-turned-podcaster Joe Budden is commenting on the latest rap beef between Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, with Budden claiming Lamar won because Cole’s response was “too nice and too soft.”

For years, J. Cole and K. Dot have been beefing and both vying for the title of Best Rapper Alive. When K. Dot appeared on Big Sean‘s “Control,” he not only came for J. Cole, Meek Mill, Mac Miller, and Pusha-T, but he also came for Drake, who offered him a helping hand by inviting him on his ‘Take Care‘ album and giving him an opening slot on his 2012 ‘Club Paradise‘ Tour.

Although K. Dot told the aforementioned rappers, “I got love for you all, but I’m trying to murder you,” like Cole, Drake didn’t take too kindly to the diss, and began jabbing back. At the time, Drake told Billboard, “I didn’t really have anything to say about it. It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that [Lamar] ‘s not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic.”

Drake and Kendrick Lamar would continue throwing jabs at each other. However, last year, on Drake’s track “First Person Shooter,” featuring J. Cole, Cole suggested that he, Drake, and Kendrick were the “big three” of the current era of Hip-Hop. He rapped, “Love when they argue the hardest MC / Is it K. Dot [Kendrick]? Is it Aubrey [Drake]? Or me? / We the big three, like we started a league.”

However, earlier this month, producer Metro Boomin‘ and rapper Future released a collaborative album, ‘We Don’t Trust You‘ featuring their Kendrick Lamar-assisted track called ‘Like That.’ On the song, K. Dot took aim at Cole’s “Big Three” verse and responded that there was no “Big Three, it’s just Big Me.” He continued to calls Cole’s best verses insubstantial, specifically “a light pack,” and declared that he was the Prince to Drake’s Michael Jackson.

Drake appeared to address K. Dot’s verse during a concert in Florida, telling the crowd, “A lot of people ask me how I’m feeling. I’mma let you know I’m feeling. I got my f***ing head up high, my back straight, I’m 10 f***ing toes down in Florida and anywhere else I go. And I know that no matter what, it’s not a [person] on this earth that could ever f**k with me in my life!”

Following Drake’s response, J. Cole offered his own reply to Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” diss by dropping a surprise album ‘Might Delete Later.’ The project featured the K. Dot diss “7 Minute Drill,” featuring Daylyt and Ab-Soul. On the track, he rapped, “I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissing / You want some attention, it come with extensions. He still doing shows but fell off like The Simpsons.”

Cole continued critiquing K. Dot’s discography, calling his debut “a classic,” but his most recent album, ‘Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers,’ “tragic.” He rapped, “Your third [album] was massive and that was your prime. I was trailing right behind and I just now hit mine.” He further claimed that he still respect K. Dot, but wouldn’t hesitate to destroy him if the jabs continued. He rapped “Push come to shove on this mic, I will humble him.”

Like many on the internet, Joe Budden took issue with J. Cole’s “7 Minute Drill” appearing to lack conviction when it came to Cole’s tone and delivery. Several critics felt as if the North Carolina rapper could have struck harder, but chose not to fire all of his weapons at once.

Reacting to J. Cole’s response to Kendrick Lamar’s diss, Joe Budden said his main problem was with Cole’s verse was “the tone.” A clip from the latest episode of ‘The Joe Budden Podcast,’ began circulating with Budden appearing visibly disappointed, explaining, “This is my issue with this f***ing narcoleptic sounding sh*t. This sounds like… if I was actively looking to cop fentanyl this is what I would put on. I want to hear him sound alive.”

After reviewing the two songs back to back, Budden said, “1-0, Kendrick Lamar.”
