Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke were seen house hunting on last week’s episode of Summer House. But when it came to the $1.5 million property they toured, it was not in New Jersey but rather Southampton, New York.
After Amanda, 32, expressed interest in moving out of the Big Apple and into a more family-focused locale, she and Kyle, 41, came under fire on Instagram as it was confirmed that the three-bedroom, two-bathroom prospect seen on the show wasn’t exactly a contender for the couple to settle down in.
Along with a screenshot of the Zillow listing for the 2,340-square-foot Southhampton home, which is currently offered for rent at $29,666 per month, Brands by Bravo on Instagram said, “I just KNEW the house Kyle and Amanda looked at was not in New Jersey.”
After seeing the post, however, Amanda set the record straight, confirming that she and Kyle weren’t looking for a home to start a family, but one to make some money on.
“We weren’t trying to pretend it was [New Jersey],” she wrote in a comment to Brands by Bravo‘s post. “We were very vocal about looking at houses in the Hamptons as an escape from the city and something we could rent out during the summer. But the price tag quickly crushed all my hopes and dreams. Sorry to anyone who felt tricked.”
As Summer House fans well know, Amanda and Kyle wed in September 2021 and live in Manhattan. However, Amanda doesn’t want to stay in the city for good and hopes to one day move to a slower-paced area to start a family. Meanwhile, Kyle is on the other side of the fence, wanting to stay in New York City, where he runs his Loverboy business.
On last week’s episode of the show, Amanda opened up about her future family with Kyle, saying that she didn’t “want to get pregnant with all that riff-raff” of the city.
“I think I’d be too stressed out,” she added.
Summer House season eight airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
