Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Announce The Stillbirth Of Their First Daughter
Former “19 Kids and Counting” star Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, announced the disheartening news of the loss of their first daughter in a shared post to Instagram. The couple announced that their baby girl was stillborn.
The post read, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard. Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero.”
Duggar and Dillard had previously kept the news of the pregnancy private.

In their heartbreaking post, they wrote, “From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby. Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world. We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie.”

After the couple’s post went up, many of their fans, friends, and family shared their condolences in the comments section.
Duggar’s cousin, Amy Duggar King, wrote, “Isla Marie such a beautiful name and meaning. Praying continuously.. God has a plan through all the heartbreak. You’ve been on my mind and in our prayers and will continue to be. We love y’all so much.”
Her sister, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, said, “Love you so much, sis. Continuing to uphold you all in prayer. Sweet little Isla will be missed.”
Another family member, Deena Dillard, commented, “We love you all. We are continuing to pray. Isla Marie is so loved. Forever our first girl.”

The Couple Are Open About Their Fertility Issues
Duggar and Dillard have been open about their fertility issues with fans. Just before the birth of their youngest son in October 2021, the couple revealed that they’d suffered a miscarriage shortly after sharing the devastating news with their older sons. They named the baby boy they lost River Bliss.
The duo are parents to sons 9-year-old Israel, 6-year-old Samuel, and 21-month-old Fredrick. They previously wrote about the experience of losing River Bliss on their blog.
It read, “It was fun to see so much joy in the boys’ faces as we shared the news with them. They were full of questions and so excited as we talked about the pregnancy and how they would get to be involved along the way and after baby was born. However, a few days later we started miscarrying.”
Jill Duggar Is A Member Of The Controversial Duggar Family
Duggar has been in the spotlight since she was a child, when she appeared on the Duggar family’s popular reality series, “19 Kids and Counting,” which launched in 2008.
The series followed her parents, Michelle and Bob Duggar, who are members of the Institute of Basic Life Principles, a Christian fundamentalist group, and their many children.
The family’s series aired for seven seasons and featured major events in their lives. These included the birth of two of Bob and Michelle’s children, the marriage of three of their kids, and the birth of four grandchildren. The series was eventually canceled in 2015, and a spin-off titled “Counting On” premiered in December 2015.

They Recently Wrote A Memoir Of Their Experience
The Duggar family has faced scandal after scandal, particularly regarding son Josh Duggar’s crime conviction.
He’s currently serving a prison sentence for possession of child sexual abuse materials. In September 2023, Duggar and Dillard released a memoir, “Counting the Cost,” where they shared the struggles and reality of living as members of the famous family.
Duggar previously opened up to Fox News Digital about the experience of writing the memoir.
She said, “It’s helped us process and disentangle our feelings. It’s been a cathartic process… This is not an isolated experience, just for reality TV or for large families… I hope people can relate to it and say, ‘I felt that too. I felt the isolation that breeds from control.'”
