Candiace Dillard Bassett is back with another surprising announcement: The ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ is expecting her first child with husband Chris Bassett! That’s right! The 37-year-old shared the happy news with ET, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life.
In an exclusive interview with the outlet, Candiace revealed that she is about 13 weeks pregnant, entering the second trimester of her pregnancy. She expressed her joy at keeping the news private within their close circle of family and friends until this point. The couple had previously undergone in vitro fertilization (IVF), using one of the embryos they had frozen two years ago, to conceive their baby-to-be.
Speaking about her journey, Candiace admitted, “I kind of woke up and realized that I was never going to be 100 percent ready,” she shared. “I just had to … trust the process and trust my doctors and stop being afraid and just do it. So once we decided together that we were going to do that — together — it just was kind of all moving by faith from there.”

Recalling the anxiety they felt waiting for that call, Candiace said, “Our doctor called us at 8 a.m. and she tells us that we’re pregnant. We waited and waited and waited all this time, so to finally hear that, after those two weeks, the process has worked after a year of doing the shots. … I did two rounds of egg retrieval. To do the shots in your stomach, I had to do the shots in my bum bum every day — which was not always fun — and to finally have it all pay off was amazing.”
As they eagerly await the arrival of their little one, Candiace and Chris have yet to discover the baby’s gender, as they have one male and one female embryo. However, they do plan to find out before the birth.
The new addition will join Chris’ three children from previous relationships, adding to their blended family.
Of course this all now make sense as to why she announced earlier this month that she is leaving the reality show. However, she did note it will be a temporary exit. “This is not a farewell, but a ‘see you later,’” she said in a statement.
