Happy birthday week for Maynard James Keenan, who this week finds two of his bands – Tool and A Perfect Circle – going head-to-head in the Loudwire Nights Chuck’s Fight Club arena.
In many ways, this is a battle of style. Tool arrived in the early ’90s, wowing audiences with their densely heavy riffs, aggressive vocals and penchant for utilizing odd time signatures. Keenan would later accent an invite from guitar tech Billy Howerdel to front A Perfect Circle, who maintain some of Tool’s attributes, but feel more lushly melodic and emotional in nature.
As with all Chuck’s Fight Club’s, the battle will be introduced Monday (April 15) at 8PM during the Loudwire Nights Show. Chuck digs into A Perfect Circle’s work on Tuesday at 8PM, while Tool is in the spotlight at 8PM on Wednesday. Your rankings throughout the week will eventually help a winner be chose, which will be revealed at 8PM during the Friday airing of Loudwire Nights.
