Bethenny Frankel reveals shocking revelation about a miscarriage she experienced during “suffocating” marriage to ex Jason Hoppy.
Real Housewives of New York alum Bethenny Frankel admits that she once told her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy, that she was “so incredibly relieved” when she suffered a miscarriage during their “suffocating” two year marriage.
“In a constructive way, I said, ‘I’m kind of relieved … because I don’t think this is a healthy or positive relationship,’ the Skinnygirl mogul recalled on Tuesday’s episode of her “Just B Divorced” podcast.
“It was a nightmare that it happened,” she clarified. “[That was] my first step to saying something.”
Bethenny Frankel claims that Hoppy called her a “real piece of s—t” in response before temporarily moving out of the marital home, which she called a “relief.”
This isn’t the first time Bethenny, who was already mother to her now 12-year-old daughter Bryn, addressed the pregnancy loss. In a June 2012 Glamour essay, the RHONY alum admitted to experiencing “relief” at the time but not because of her rocky marriage to Hoppy.
“There was, I have to admit, a bit of relief that I wouldn’t be starting my new TV job seven months pregnant,” she wrote at the time. “And then there was immense guilt at the relief.”
Meanwhile, on Tuesday’s episode of her podcast, the former Bravoleb spilled some details about her sex life with Hoppy prior to the miscarriage. She claims that Hoppy compared their bed to a “block of ice” since Bethenny “didn’t want to have sex at all.”
“I did not want to be intimate,” she explained, adding that her coldness was due to her lack of “respect” for the businessman. “I used to force myself, gag myself through doing it. … It is torture.”
Bethenny and Jason tied the knot in March 2010. They announced their separation in December 2012 with Bethenny officially filing for divorce a month later.
Over the next decade the two battled it out in court over custody of Brynn and finances. They reached a financial settlement in 2016 but their divorce was not finalized until January 2021. By December of that year, Bethenny had gained full legal and physical custody of Brynn and was no longer required to pay Jason child support.
The Real Housewives of New York will return to Bravo for season 15 in late to mid-2024.
