South Carolina women’s basketball coach, Dawn Staley took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a video of herself receiving a card and a bouquet of flowers from none other than Beyoncé.
As we previously shared, Staley led the South Carolina Gamecocks to its third national championship in the past eight years. This capped off an outstanding undefeated season where the Gamecocks convincingly defeated Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the NCAA national championship game earlier this month. After making the great achievement, Staley made history as the first Black coach to lead a women’s team to an undefeated NCAA Division I championship season.

Of course Dawn Staley had the make the video playful she started the video dancing to Beyoncé’s latest album, ‘Cowboy Carter.’
“This deserves a video thank you,” Staley said. “Look at the flowers, I don’t even think they grow these in South Carolina! Look at the merchandise. If you know, you know!”
After reading the card in the video, Staley looked at the camera to thank the legendary singer for sending out the beautiful flowers.

“Bee, thank you! We appreciate you,” Staley said. “We’re honored to wear your gear. It says, ‘Always Been Country.’ Well, guess what, I’ve been in the south for 16 years. I’m a little country too! This is because of you, Bee. Keep inspiring. We love you.”
After reaching the Final Four with an undefeated season the previous year but falling to Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes, South Carolina bounced back with an undefeated NCAA championship season. In this season, Staley’s Gamecocks won against Iowa in the NCAA title game, securing a victory with a score of 87-75.
While speaking to People Magazine recently Staley shared, “When you’re playing for a championship, you carry a heavy load. This load was probably a little heavier than others because of how it ended last year. And I just wanted to erase the feeling that I had. I didn’t like it.”
