Former WNBA player and ‘Love and Hip Hop’ cast member Tamera “Ty” Young is the new assistant coach for the Chicago Sky.
According to the team’s official website, she will join Head Coach Teresa Weatherspoon’s staff.

The Head Coach Welcome Ty
The 37-year-old played in the WNBA for over a decade. Additionally, Young was a member of the Sky team. Furthermore, she played 9 of her 12 years in the league with the organization. Moreover, Ty had a highly decorated career, earning a spot as a Top 10 player in Sky history.
Weatherspoon stated, “I am very excited to welcome Ty to our coaching staff and have her on the sidelines beside me this season…Ty brings energy, passion, and spirit to inspire us all. I can’t wait to watch her mentor, lead, and coach our players this season.”
The Announcement
The Chicago Sky announced Ty’s new position with the Windy City team on X, formerly known as Twitter. The tweet read, “Officially official. Welcome BACK to Skytown, Coach@young11.”
She responded, “God is the greatest. I’m back Chicago. I love you ChiTown.”
Ty posted a photo of herself on Instagram signing the contract for her new gig. She captioned the photo, “Full Circle Moment…” She continued, “On April 9, 2008, I was drafted to the WNBA. (Atlanta Dream) On April 9, 2024, I signed my first coaching contract with my most extended tenure team.”
Ty’s caption continued, “The Chicago Sky. Exactly 16 years apart. I am grateful for the opportunity then and now.”

As previously reported, Angel Reese was drafted 7th by the Chicago Sky in the first round of the 2024 WNBA draft.
