Police arrested a suspected intruder early Sunday morning following a break-in at the residence of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. The LAPD PIO reported that the individual smashed a window to enter the Getty House while she was there around 6:40 AM.
“Around 6:40 AM this morning an individual smashed a window to gain entry into the Getty House while occupied,” the LAPD PIO shared in a statement on X. The Mayor’s office spoke with ABC News and said that Bass was present in the home when the intruder broke in but did not confirm whether she had any interaction with the suspect.

“There were no injuries to the occupants during this incident,” LAPD wrote, adding, “The suspect was taken into custody without incident.” After the break-in, Bass’ Deputy Mayor of Communications Zach Seidl released a statement, saying, “The Mayor is grateful to LAPD for responding and arresting the suspect.”
The name of the person who was arrested in connection with the break-in was not immediately disclosed.

“So right now, that’s part of an ongoing investigation that’s being conducted by the Robbery-Homicide division,” said LAPD Lt. James Mylonakis. “So we’re just inside, we’re taking photographs, collecting any physical evidence.”
“As an Angeleno, I’m very concerned, obviously,” Lt. Mylonakis continued. “It’s just the mayor of the city and we’re concerned for any resident that has somebody just come into their home. So, we treat this very seriously.”
