Initially released in 2004, the sports-action film is a remake of the Telugu film Okkadu. Directed by Dharani, the film cast includes Vijay, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, and others in significant roles. Ghilli ran for more than 200 days at the box office and accumulated around $5.9 million against its budget of $959K. Notably, Ghilli also grossed over $479K in Tamil Nadu alone on its opening day.
The momentum continued on the second day, with the movie minted around $539K in worldwide collections. In Tamil Nadu alone, Ghilli grossed nearly $389 thousand on Sunday. Sharing re-release excitement, lead actress Trisha took to her Instagram and shared images and videos of fans celebrating inside theaters while watching Ghilli.
