Billie Eilish Claims Self-Pleasure Has Helped Her Feel More ‘Empowered’

Billie Eilish opened up about her sexuality in a new interview, during which she advocated for open discussions on the topic of sex and self-pleasure.

The singer highlighted the taboo around female sexuality and the empowering effect of self-pleasure, including the transformative experience of viewing oneself in a mirror.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Eilish discussed her views on sexuality and the importance of embracing one’s sexual identity.

When questioned about her preferred method of relaxation, the “Happier Than Ever” singer shared that she finds solace in both intimate encounters and self-exploration.

“Sex,” she told the publication. “I basically talk about sex any time I possibly can. That’s literally my favorite topic. My experience as a woman has been that it’s seen in such a weird way. People are so uncomfortable talking about it and weirded out when women are very comfortable in their sexuality and communicative in it.”

Reflecting on her experiences, she added, “I think it’s such a frowned-upon thing to talk about, and I think that should change. You asked me what I do to decompress. That sh-t can save you sometimes, just saying. Can’t recommend it more, to be real.”

Eilish also spoke about the transformative power of self-pleasure, particularly when done in front of a mirror, which she described as fostering a “raw, deep connection with herself and her body.

“I got to say, looking at yourself in the mirror and thinking, ‘I look really good right now’ is so helpful,” she said. “You can manufacture the situation you’re in to make sure you look good. You can make the light super dim, you can be in a specific outfit or in a specific position that’s more flattering.”

While reflecting on her journey to self-pleasure, the 22-year-old added that watching herself “feel pleasure has been an extreme help in loving” herself as well as “feeling empowered and comfortable.”

“People should be jerking it, man. I can’t stress it enough, as somebody with extreme body issues and dysmorphia that I’ve had my entire life, I should have a Ph.D. in m—-bation,” she added.

Eilish also opened up about understanding and accepting her queer identity, recounting a pivotal moment when she realized her attraction to women. She admitted that she has “been in love with girls” her “whole life.”

“I just didn’t understand — until last year, I realized I wanted my face in a v–ina,” Eilish continued. “I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up.”

Transitioning to her upcoming song “Lunch,” which delves into her experiences as a queer individual, the Oscar winner revealed that the track was written before “even doing anything with a girl” and “the rest after.”

The explicit song’s chorus goes: “I could eat that girl for lunch / Yeah, she dances on my tongue / Tastes like she might be the one / And I can never get enough / I could buy you so much stuff / It’s a craving, not a crush.”

Last year, during Variety’s  Hitmakers event, Eilish expressed surprise that people were unaware of her queer identity.

“I kind of thought, wasn’t it obvious? I didn’t realize people didn’t know,” she remarked.

The “Ocean Eyes” hitmaker questioned society’s fixation on labeling individuals, adding: “I just don’t really believe in it. I’m just like, why can’t we just exist? I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I just didn’t talk about it.”

Despite her confidence in her identity, Eilish admitted to lingering apprehensions, particularly regarding the opinions of other women. “I’m still scared of them, but I think they’re pretty!” she confessed at the time.

In an interview with Billboard, Eilish slammed singers who release multiple variants of the same album, noting that the move is bad for the environment.

She lamented the environmental impact of such practices, stating: “We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging … which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money and gets them more…”

“I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is,” she continued. “It is right in front of our faces, and people are just getting away with it left and right.”

Fans at the time claimed Eilish was being shady towards Taylor Swift, who is known for the practice. However, she has since stated that she was not referring to anyone particularly.
