Ariana Madix and Daniel Wai are seen discussing their long-distance relationship and future in a sneak peek at next week’s episode of Vanderpump Rules.
As the couple, who began dating in April 2023, just weeks after Ariana’s messy split from Tom Sandoval, 41, who cheated on her with her friend and castmate Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, 29, enjoyed a dinner date, they looked ahead to their then-upcoming trip to San Francisco while also chatting about the pros and cons of their relationship and sharing their thoughts on what’s next.
“We’re gonna fly on the plane tomorrow,” Ariana says in the preview of the April 30 episode.
“First time together,” Daniel replies.
As Pump Rules fans well know, Ariana and Daniel have been maintaining a bi-coastal relationship for the entirety of their romance, with Ariana living in Los Angeles and Daniel residing in New York City.
“I feel like long distance has been really good for us in a lot of ways because we’ve gotten to know each other just talking to each other all the time,” Ariana explains to her partner.
“It’s good and bad, right?” he asks. “I work so many jobs. I’m busy. I work seven days a week, But it sucks because I don’t see you.”
In a cast confessional, Ariana shares more about the communication she has with Daniel when they aren’t together.
“There’s definitely been times where he’s getting up in the morning for work, and I’m going to bed from the night before, which is fun,” she reveals. “We’re like, ‘Goodnight,’ ‘Good morning.’”
While things are going well for the couple, Ariana hopes they will one day live in the same place.
“Well, what about moving here?” she asks him in the scene. “How fun would that be?”
“I think we have to talk about that,” Daniel replies.
But Ariana presses on, attempting to convince Daniel to consider relocating by giving a nod to harsh east coast winters.
“Okay, when winter hits and it’s March and you’re like, ‘This is miserable,’” she states.
“We’ll just go to Europe or something instead,” he suggests.
During an appearance on Scheana Shay‘s podcast last summer, Ariana opened up about why Daniel isn’t quick to up and leave his hometown.
“I’d love it if he moved out here, but he’s born and raised in New York, so I can understand how that would be a huge adjustment,” she said on Scheananigans in August 2023, adding that she “wouldn’t want to take him away from his family.”
As for whether she’d be open to moving to his neck of the woods, Ariana admitted it wouldn’t be easy.
“Moving back to New York for me sounds, oh God, it’s so much harder… L.A. is just easier, and it’s so beautiful all the time,” she explained. “It’s kind of hard to beat.”
