Welp, Donald Trump who’s been in and out of court for his hush money trail has found himself in even more trouble this Tuesday morning.
During his latest court appearance today, the former President was found in contempt of court and fined $9,000 by Judge Juan M. Merchan for repeatedly breaching a gag order. The order prohibited Trump from publicly discussing witnesses, jurors, and other related individuals in the case. Despite prosecutors alleging 10 violations, the judge determined there were nine instances where Trump had violated the order.
Judge Merchan issued a stern warning to Trump, stating that further willful violations of the court’s orders could result in imprisonment. Trump “is hereby warned that the Court will not tolerate continued willful violations of its lawful orders and that if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances, it will impose an incarceration punishment,” Merchan wrote. Trump, visibly displeased, listened as the ruling was read out during the ongoing trial. As part of the ruling, Trump is now required to pay the fine by the end of the week and remove seven specific posts from his Truth Social account and campaign website promptly.

What Is Truth Social?
As some people are aware, Truth Social is a social media platform launched by Trump. It was created as an alternative to mainstream social media platforms and aims to provide a space for conservative voices to express their opinions freely. Truth Social was developed in response to concerns about censorship and bias on other social media platforms. He wanted to create the platform to allow users to engage with content, share their views, and connect with like-minded individuals in a more conservative-friendly environment. This was created after some of his social media accounts were wiped away due to his content following his loss in the 2020 presidential election.
This latest decision by the judge came amidst the second week of testimonies in the high-profile case, where Manhattan prosecutors accuse Trump and his associates of engaging in an unlawful scheme to sway the 2016 presidential campaign by suppressing negative stories. Trump has maintained his innocence.
Judge Merchan is also reviewing additional alleged violations of the gag order and will hear arguments on the matter later this week.
On the bright side, Judge Merchan said he would allow Mr. Trump to attend the upcoming graduation of his son, Barron Trump, which is scheduled for May 17. The former president had repeatedly complained after the judge previously delayed decision on the matter.
We will continue to keep updated on this trial.
