Atlanta’s local outlet 11 Alive reports that Anita Baker’s show was scheduled to start at 7 p.m., with doors opening at an hour before, at the State Farm Arena. However, just minutes before the show started, it was canceled with event organizers blaming “unforeseen circumstances.”
In an email sent out on Saturday evening, officials with Live Nation issued a statement that read, “Due to late, unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s ‘An Evening with Anita Baker’ event featuring eight-time Grammy Award-winning superstar Anita Bakerset to take place at State Farm Arena has been canceled. Refunds will be returned at point of purchase.”

While the event organizers did not detail what those circumstances exactly were or if the canceled Atlanta concert would be rescheduled, enraged users took to social media and speculated that Auntie Anita Baker, who has been known to show up late, or in this case, cancel shows, wasn’t even Atlanta. However, these claims are currently unconfirmed as the reason for why the show was canceled remains unknown.
What is confirmed is that “An Evening with Anita Baker” ticket holders can expect to receive full refunds on the card that they used to purchase them, as mentioned in the event organizers’ email mentioned above. Currently, further statements have not been shared from the event organizers or by Anita Baker and her team. Meanwhile, social media users continue to drag her, long enough for her to become a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter).

One user wrote, “Soooo Mom’s Mother’s Day Present was tickets to the Anita Baker concert tonight, and after making us stand there for over 30 minutes after doors were supposed to open they just CANCELLED the concert outright. I feel bad for the arena staff tho bc people are NOT happy.”
Another said, “Y’all…. Anita Baker canceled her show minutes before it was supposed to start and my Aunty (who’s at the arena for the show) texted the family group chat and said, ‘This why she always getting cheated on. She’s an unreliable b*tch.’ OMG!”
