My favorite animated film growing up was The Lion King. What I enjoyed about it was that the film was a lot of things in one, and they were all done very well: It was really funny, had fantastic music, had a plot that had me totally hooked, great characters, but also was full of easy to digest but relevant messages about self-discovery and growing up, like about listening to your parents vs. exploring the world and taking risks.
In my view the animation still holds up well and it's a good movie for kids. Btw I recently watched the 2019 version which I really didn't like. It wasn't terrible but it just didn't have the heart of the original. Seemed too polished, too calculated.
