Ariana Madix had a little talk with her boyfriend, Daniel Wai, before they traveled to San Francisco to film the Vanderpump Rules season 11 finale, which aired last week on Bravo.
While looking back at the episode, Ariana, 38, revealed what she said to Daniel, whom she’s been dating since last April, as Lala Kent, 33, suggested she wasn’t accurate in her description of the fitness trainer and Tom Sandoval, 41, shared his thoughts on his ex-girlfriend‘s new man.
“He was kind of the man of the hour, a little bit. I kind of gave him a heads up that like, ‘We’ve done these trips before, this one’s gonna be a little weird.’ I was like, ‘You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. Just know that,’” Ariana explained on the May 7 episode of the Vanderpump Rules: After Show.
Meanwhile, Lala felt that Ariana built Daniel up to be more of a tough guy than he actually was ahead of his first meeting with Sandoval.
“The way Ariana made him sound, it was so wild to me. I had never met him, and she was like, ‘You know, he’s a personal trainer, and he does not f*ck around.’ And I ask him about it, and he’s like, ‘No [Sandoval] didn’t do anything to me, like I would have no problem saying hey, what’s up, but this is my girlfriend, and it was pretty f*cked up to hurt her, but now I get to be with her,’” she recalled. “[It was] very different than what Ariana said. Like, he’s actually pretty normal.”
In their own Pump Rules: After Show segments, Tom Schwartz, 40, and Sandoval admitted to having no ill feelings toward Daniel.
“I think he handled himself well coming into a f*cking strange situation, he was super chill,” Schwartz noted. “He wasn’t like, overcompensating. He just was cool, man.”
And Sandoval agreed, saying, “He seems like a really nice guy.”
Jax Taylor, 44, and Brittany Cartwright, 35, also weighed in, with Brittany saying that Daniel “seems very nice,” although she’d only met him a couple of times, and Jax labeling him a “normal dude” and applauding him for the support he offers to Ariana.
“I think he’s playing it the right way. He’s in her corner,” he stated.
