Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley’s The Substance movie features full frontal nudity involving the two actresses. Moore recently discussed her experience baring it all in multiple scenes, revealing what was needed to film them.

Demi Moore opens up on The Substance’s full frontal nudity with Margaret Qualley

Speaking of the naked sequences, Moore talked about the rawness needed to tell the story of her upcoming film. She further called the scenes ‘a very vulnerable experience.’

On Monday, at the Cannes Film Festival press conference (via Variety) Moore said:

“Going into it, it was really spelled out — the level of vulnerability and rawness that was really required to tell the story.”

She continued:

“And it was a very vulnerable experience and just required a lot of sensitivity and a lot of conversation about what we were trying to accomplish.”

The 61-year-old further credited Qualley for making her feel very comfortable while filming those sequences. She added:

“I had someone who was a great partner who I felt very safe with. We obviously were quite close  — naked — and we also got a lot of levity in those moments at how absurd those certain situations were. But ultimately. it’s just about really directing your communication and mutual trust.”

Feminist body horror movie The Substance sees Moore play an aging celebrity who uses the titular drug from the black market. Acting as a device that replicates cells, it creates a younger and better version of Moore’s character, played by Margaret Qualley, in a scene involving nudity for both.

As the story progresses, the two not only share the same space but also have to stay dormant to allow the other to prosper.

The film reportedly got a 13-minute standing ovation after its premiere at the Cannes Festival. Directed by Coralie Fargeat, it also stars Dennis Quaid but is yet to receive an official release date.
