A new report is claiming that Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man 4 is going to kick off a new trilogy of Spider-Man films. It’s also said that Ms. Marvel and Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah could be in the running to helm the three films.

The report comes from Jeff Sneider, who says that Marvel and Sony are looking for one director, or a directing duo, to work on all three of the new Spider-Man movies.

It’s explained that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is taking his time choosing a filmmaker or filmmakers to take charge of the creative process of the film, so the movie might not go into production this Fall as previously reported.

Other directors that have been rumored to be on the list include Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods), Sam Raimi (Spider-Man), Justin Lin (Fast and the Furious franchise), James Wan (Aquaman), John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (Dungeons & Dragons), and the highly unlikely Jon Favreau (Iron Man).

It was previously rumored that Spider-Man 4 will see Peter Parker stepping fully into Spider-Man, and leaving Peter behind.

It was explained: “The idea now moving forward is to give him a sense of independence. In his mind, Peter Parker is no more…but Spider-Man lives on.

“Since he has either lost or detached himself from everyone he’s ever loved, all he has to keep him going is being Spider-Man, whether the city loves him for it or not.

“And as the title of Spider-Man continues to consume Peter’s life little by little, Peter Parker will take a back seat and continue to fade from existence slowly. This story point can be compared to Robert Pattinson’s Batman in The Batman.”

It seems like any of these rumors and details could go in a completely different direction when Marvel and Sony finally hire a director to take on the film.
