We’ve been on the edge of our seats since that early spring teaser, and today an official trailer has finally landed for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the highly anticipated sequel starring Michael Keaton, Wynona Rider, and Jenna Ortega.
In kind of a Frankenstein moment, Ryder pops up in her full-goth Lydia Deetz guise to warn viewers that the impending trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is “intense.” What follows is a cliff notes to the impending, Tim Burton-directed sequel, with viewers picking back up with Deetz nearly 40 years after being haunted by the Ghost with the Most.

As you’ll see up above, a family death leads the Deetz — now including Scream/Wednesday actress Ortega as Ryder’s daughter Astrid — toward accidentally summoning Keaton’s mischievous, green-toothed ghoul.
There are a lot of callbacks to the earlier movie in the new trailer, from the choice of a spectral cover of Harry Belafonte’s “Banana Boat (Day-O),” to the Deetz running away from a dreaded and hella-toothy sandworm, to the general wise-crackin’ of Beetlejuice. You can find all those afterlife-lovin’ Easter eggs and even a cameo from an undead Danny DeVito in the trailer.
As previously reported, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice also finds Catherine O’Hara reprising the role of Delia Deetz, while new additions to the cast include Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe.
