Snoop Dogg has sparked hilarity online after mistaking a low-budget Tubi movie for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Tha Doggfather posted a clip of the film on Instagram as he was watching it and viewers can clearly see a man wearing an ape mask that looks as if it was bought from a fancy dress store.

Adding some colorful commentary to the amusing mishap, the rap legend then explains how he stumbled on the bizarre movie.

“This is some straight bullshit. I went to Tubi thinking I was finna watch the motherfucking Planet of the Apes 2024, and this shit comes on.”

“Look at this bullshit!” he continues. “They got me! Revenge of the Planet of the Apes. Look at this bullshit.”

Snoop’s post left fans in stitches, with one person commenting: “Lmao they got @snoopdogg watching The Planet Of Escapes [crying face emojis].”

Another said: “This gave me a good laugh.”

Snoop Dogg was actually watching a 2017 film called Empire of the Apes, a low-budget rip off of the popular Planet of the Apes series.

The 52-year-old recently made headlines for another unlikely reason when he celebrated Manchester City’s record fourth Premier League title in a row.

Joining a group of celebrity fans that includes Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis, Snoop celebrated the victory on social media, though he appeared to be more interested in the colors of City’s uniform than the actual soccer.

“Congrats to the BLUE side of manchester,” the former Rollin’ 20s Crip wrote on YouTube alongside a video of the team lifting the trophy, referencing their rivals, Manchester United, wearing red jerseys — the same color associated with the Bloods gang.

Snoop also shared another video of City’s on-pitch celebrations on Instagram, captioning it with blue heart emojis.

Despite congratulating Man City, the rapper has been spotted repping many other soccer teams over the years, including Man United, Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Ajax, Lyon and more.

Snoop has apparently been a soccer fan since the early 2000s when he began playing the FIFA video game series.

“While we were playing the game, we were also learning about the game and started watching some games on TV. And it was the biggest sport in the part of the world we were in, so I just loved it,” he told ESPN back in 2012.

He added: “I think it can be real big because soccer is a fun sport. It takes an athletic person to play it, and it’s just fly. I think it can catch on.”
