Zhang Ruoyun is a popular Chinese actor who debuted in the 2004 drama The Sea’s Promise. Over the years, he has appeared in many critically acclaimed movies and TV shows, including Joy of Life, Sword Snow Stride, Under the Microscope, etc. The prominent actor has bagged numerous awards for his exceptional acting skills. He recently awed viewers with his alluring portrayal of Fan Xian in the superhit series Joy of Life Season 2.

Here is a list of the actor’s most famous works:

1. Joy of Life

The prequel to Joy of Life Season 2 came out in 2019. It featured Zhang Ruoyun and Li Qin in lead roles. It follows the story of Fan Xian (Zhang Ryoyun), the illegitimate son of the Minister of Finance, who lives in Southern Qing. His late mother, Ye Qing Mei, was the founder of the Overwatch Department. Under the surveillance of his mother’s bodyguard, he practices martial arts. Another peculiar thing about him is that he has memories of a distant future. He combines these two traits to establish himself as a worthy martial artist in the capital and also to investigate more about his mysterious mother. 

Joy of Life is available for streaming on Tencent Video, We TV, and Prime Video.

2. Sword Snow Stride

This popular costume C-drama features Zhang Ruoyun, Hu Jun, and Teresa Li in the lead roles. The drama is an adaptation of Feng Huo Xi Zhu Hou’s novel “The Snowy Path of the Heroic Blade.” It tells the story of Xu Feng Nian (Zhang Ruoyun), a skilled horseman and a man of exceptional fortitude. His father, the King of Northern Liang, successfully triumphed over the threats that terrorized the country. 

When Xu Feng Nian ascends the throne, concerns arise that he won’t be able to live up to his father’s reputation. Furthermore, he encounters a dangerous situation that threatens the entire realm’s future. But it also provides him with an opportunity to prove himself as a worthy ruler. 

Sword Snow Stride is available for streaming on We TV and Viki.

3. Under the Microscope

This 2023 Zhang Ruoyun starrer C-drama is an adaptation of Ma Bo Yong’s novel “Xian Wei Jing Xia De Da Ming.” The plot of this drama follows Shuai Jia Mo (Zhang Ryoyun), a mathematic genius who stumbles upon a mistake while going through some historical documents. He makes up his mind to correct the error. However, he encounters many setbacks in his journey. Also, his efforts exasperate many stakeholders. 

Under the Microscope is available for streaming on iQIYI.

4. The Hope

This 2023 comedy C-drama is an adaptation of Mita Norifusa’s manga “Dragon Zakura.” Zhang Ruoyun plays the role of Lei Ming, a former lecturer who dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. After encountering various obstacles in his career, he becomes a high school teacher. He teams up with a colleague to provide guidance and motivation to underachieving students. Lei Ming dedicates his time to mentoring every student and helping them through their tough lives. His efforts do not go in vain, as his disciples successfully secure spots in the institutes of their choice. 

The Hope is available for streaming on Youku.

5. Ordinary Greatness

In this 2022 C-drama, Zhang Ruoyun plays the role of Li Da Wei, a rebellious young man sent to the police academy by his parents as a punishment. In the academy, he befriends three men who have contrasting personalities. During the year-long internship, the four recruits struggle to understand the work in depth but eventually find satisfaction and a sense of achievement. They build good relationships with their mentors and help each other become esteemed police officers. 

Ordinary Greatness is available to stream on iQIYI.

Other than these popular shows, Zhang Ruoyun starrer My Heroic Husband, Insects Awaken, Judge Dee’s Mystery, Hurricane, The Evolution of Our Love, Medical Examiner Dr. Qin, etc. are also worth mentioning. Also, he is scheduled to appear in the upcoming dramas The Fated General, Joy of Life Season 3, Blood Problem, Perfect Evidence, and Swords and Love.
