Biden’s Camp Trolls Trump After He Was Booed At Libertarian Convention

Donald Trump faced a ravaging backlash at the Libertarian Convention in a bid to solicit votes from the group. Trump subtly shaded President Joe Biden in his speech, saying that if the incumbent was handed a second term, “there will be no more liberty for anyone” in America.

His speech was not well received as he was rewarded with loud “boos” and “f–k yous.” Biden’s campaign team also subtly trolled the ex-president, as they made fun of his speech duration.

The billionaire mogul did get a slight nod of approval at the event due to some of the actions he intends to take if he is voted for, including the release of Ross Ulbricht.

Trump faced backlash from people at the Libertarian National Convention, held at a Washington hotel on Saturday night.

According to a video, the former president was greeted with a boisterous atmosphere of “Bulls–t” and “f— you” when he took to the stage to address the crowd, showing how much of a task he has to appeal to both the left and right.

“The fact is we should not be fighting each other,” Trump pleaded. “If Joe Biden gets back in, there will be no more liberty for anyone in our country. Combine with us in a partnership – we’re asking that of the libertarians. We must work together. Combine with us. You have to combine with us.”

The Libertarian Party usually accounts for 3% or less of the national vote, but it could prove to be the defining factor in crucial swing states that remain keenly contested in the upcoming elections.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Biden HQ, the social media page associated with the president’s campaign, tweeted a short video of Trump getting booed at the convention, noting that the 77-year-old was forced to end his speech after thirty minutes due to the crowd’s reaction.

Their tweet caption read, “Trump ends his speech only 30 minutes after he is practically booed off the stage.”

X users in the comment section also chimed in, with many talking about how “red-faced” Trump got after being booed.

One person said, “Look at how red his face is. A little uncomfortable?” while another joked, “Don’t think we’ll be getting the double-fisted jerk and twist tonight, huh?”

“I love the sound of 100,000 people booing Trump,” a third person noted.

The billionaire politician did all he could to sway the crowd in his favor. However, his efforts were still met with a brick wall, as many blasted him for running up huge federal deficits and enriching pharmaceutical companies during the development of the coronavirus vaccine.

Referencing his legal troubles, he joked, “If I wasn’t a libertarian before, I sure as hell am a libertarian now.”

They remained unbending in their resolve even when Trump quoted an article by political commentator Deroy Murdock admonishing Libertarians to vote for him.

“Only if you want to win. Only if you want to win. Maybe you don’t want to win. Maybe you don’t want to win. Only do that if you want to win. If you want to lose, don’t do that. Keep getting your 3% every four years,” Trump mocked.

He went on, “The Libertarians want to vote for me, and most of them will because we have to get rid of the worst president in history, and together we will.”

According to The Guardian, Trump gained libertarian approval when he began divulging some of his intentions if elected.

Rebuking them for getting 3% in previous elections while spurring them on the need “to be winners,” he noted that he had come “to extend a hand of friendship” in common opposition to Biden.

The rowdy crowd then erupted with chants of “We want Trump!” even though some others were shouting, “End the feds!” One person who held up a placard that read “No wannabe dictators!” was seen being ejected from the premises by security.

Arguing that most of his philosophies are libertarian, he promised to appoint Libertarians to a task force to “rapidly review the cases of every political prisoner who has been unjustly persecuted” by Biden’s administration.

“As everyone knows, it will be my great honor to pardon the peaceful January 6 protesters or, as I often call them, the hostages,” Trump said. “They’re hostages. There has never been a group of people treated so harshly or unfairly in our country’s history. This abuse will be rectified, and it will be rectified very quickly.”

“And if you vote for me on day one, I will commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht,” he added, much to the sounds of approval from the crowd.

A recent survey by the New York Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Siena College showed that Trump is ahead of Biden in five key states, with Biden leading in just one.

The poll showed the former president up in Pennsylvania (3 points), Arizona (7), Michigan (7), Georgia (10) and Nevada (12), while Biden led by two points in Wisconsin.

According to NYT, “a yearning for change and discontent over the economy and the war in Gaza among young, Black and Hispanic voters threaten to unravel the president’s Democratic coalition.”

Biden, however, saw better luck among people who described themselves as likely to vote, leading in Michigan and narrowly trailing in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
